Default General question about WE and HE

Hey guys, Im still fairly new to Fantasy and I was just wondering wether or not WE would actually fight alongside with HE? I mean, I know that WE were once HE but, would WE be treated as deserters and vice versa. Would WE treat HE as intruders? Thanks

wood elves tend to treat everyone else, including other elves, with suspicion and best to avoid them, however if it was in their best intrests they would fight together
plus in game terms they are both forces of order so can ally.

Yes, they would.

There would be a little tension, but many of the WE would have been born as HE and they actually have fairly similar societies... although WE are much more obvious in their dedication to nature (Ariel of the WE is a mirror to the Everqueen of the HE).
I doubt that many HE or WE would think of themselves as seperate: they owe slightly different loyalties but since the WE are such a recent offshoot of the HE and are so small in number they could be considered a temporary splinter group.

There isn't really much of a reason for HE and WE to fight each other. The only way to provoke a fight from WE is to damage nature or to invade (or trespass in) their wood and while the WE pose no threat (or even show any interest) to the HE then the HE have no reason to venture into the old world to confront them...
Its quite possibly to come up with reasons for a fight, but they would be based on a particular instance... not the races themselves (eg a Prince of Ulthaun worries about the WE becoming too cult like and wishes to end their separation and bring them back into HE society).

Before he took the throne, Finubar the Seafarer, current Phoenix King of the High Elves spent a long time rattling around the Old World. He was the first High Elf to enter Athel Lorren for around 3'000 years.

That's a long old time, even for Elves and only the very very oldest Wood Elves will have ever lived in Ulthuan, or even remember a time when they were something other than Wood Elves.

The Wood Elves received Finubar politely, but with no great love or feeling if kinship. They had no interest in returing to Ulthuan which was, as I say, not even a memory to most of them.

When Finubar returned home and reported the existence of the Wood Elves (all High Elf colonies in the Old World were thought lost after Ulthuan pulled out) Ambassadors were sent. The Ambassadors were greeted, and treated with indifference, occasionally a little hostility.

Elves, no matter where they live are proud and strong-willed. Wood Elves have been doing just fine for three millenia thank-you-very-much and have little love for the Elves of Ulthuan who abandoned them when the Old World got a little too tough.

So yes, both Asur and Asrai are on the side or Good and Order, and both have some goals in common (Niether are fans of Chaos) but they do not regard one another as long lost brothers.

High Elves are very likely more friendly toward Wood Elves than Wood Elves are toward High Elves, but they are both willing to tolerate the other, and niether has any real reason to fight the other.
