Default Sigmar

I have a question about Sigmar, and don't flip out like I am Captain Asshole of the planet but, why is there so much mention about him and yet he is not a usable character that I could see in Army Builder? Mind you I know very little about WH as I usually play 40k. Just kinda curious is he like a god that was once man or what?

He makes the Emperor of 40K look like a pansy. But seriously, he's pretty much the equivalent, yet he's been dead/missing for the best part of 2500 years.

Hmm ... OK one question though ... was he any kind of a psyker or warlock or whatever the equivalent is in WH, or was he just a bad MoFo?

He's BAMF. Went around the Warhammer World in a Loin Cloth with a Fuck off Hammer, smacking seven shades of shit out of anything that got in his way, basically.

There are a couple of Time of Legends novels, and I've got the "Life of Sigmar" lying around somewhere, I'll dig it out tonight. He's like King Arthur, Hercules, Conan, and any other muscly square jawed action hero out there. I believe the tag line for the next book is "Get to the chopper".

Well since he's got a massive hammer I'm gonna go with, "Knock Knock".

Sigmar's kind of a demi-god type character though isn't he, what with the predictions and Comet and stuff.

I reckon Vaz's Herculean comparison is probably the most accurate.

Here's a basic rundown of Sigmar Heldenhammer's life. The time he was born in, around -30 IC, the Empire did not exist and men lived in tribes. The day Sigmar was born, a twin-tailed comet streaked through the air, marking him for greatness. In -15 IC, he lead a band of men from tribe against some Greenskins, saving a Dwarf King in process. The King gave Sigmar his famous warhammer, Ghal Maraz. Eventually, Sigmar managed to unite all the tribes through conquest or diplomacy, creating the Empire. Then he set about purging vast majority of Greenskins and Beastmen as well as battling and slaying the First Everchosen. Then fifteen years into his rule as Emperor, he stepped down. Why he left and where he went is unknown, but many people in the Empire believe that he will return one day. It was the people of Empire that began to worship him as a god among their pantheon of deities. Though given the abilities of the Warrior Priests of Sigmar, it's hard to say if he's been elevated to some form of godhood or not.

How would they achieve what they achieve if he wasn't a God?

This is warhammer, baby. There's no saying whether he is a God or not, other than he went trotting off on a jolly, and his belief, just works...

In the same way, the shape of Sigmar's hammer is anathema to the Vampire, yet no other god is (I'm guessing that since it was of Nagash's creation, and Sigmar killed Nagash, then it was sort of taken from there). Then again, there's other magical properties which aren't explainable by a divine or Chaotic fashion.

Actually, the Vampire's weakness to Sigmar-blessed items was a curse born of Nagash's 'death' at the hands of Sigmar. You see after the fall of Lahmia, the surviving Vampire Lords and their minions eventually joined forces with Nagash and became his lieutenants but they were defeated by King Alcadizaar and cursed with a weakness to sunlight. After that, most fled from him. Later when the Great Necromancer headed north into the fledgling Empire and was defeated by Sigmar, who crushed his skull with Ghal Maraz. The next part is a little unclear and there are two possible suggestions as to what happened. First is that Nagash's spirit, enraged by his defeat and blaming the lieutenants that abandoned him, cursed the vampires with a weakness to the one that had defeated him. The other is that the vampires have a connection to Nagash as he is ultimately their creator and that they were afflicted with the weakness because Nagash was slain by him. So it isn't really that Sigmar was holy or god that weakens vampires, its Nagash's curse, whether intentional or not that harms them.

Yes but that still doesn't explain the rest of a warrior priests powers.
