Default January Throne of Skulls Results 40k UK

Found this over on B&C

Props to the original author Antique_Nova.

i will start with the average scores of each race in attendance, these scores are all players except the top player of the race having their scores added up and then divided by the number of players who made up that score.

Witch hunters - auto score of 3 due to only one player
Tyranids - 7.8
Tau - 5
Space wolves - 9.3
Space marines - 7.65
orks - 8.2
Necrons - 5
Imperial guard - 10.14
Eldar - 7.6
Dark angels - 5
Daemon hunters - auto 3 due to one player
Chaos space marines - 8
Chaos daemons - 10
Blood Angels - 9.4

and the winner

DARK ELDAR - 10.57 plus they had the lowest amount of favourite army votes by a stupid amount, must be the dark lances, blasters and general hate towards DE ^^.

Winner of best painted was a Nurgle marine army

Winner of the tournament was a space wolf player by the name of Ruben Malschaert with 5 wins out of 5 and 3 votes giving him 5 extra points for the maximum total of 20 points. He is the overall winner with the score of 11.7 points after deducting average race points.

Only one person got 4 favorite army votes as no one got five and it was Alex young with orks whos waaagh could be hears through all four corners of warhammer world every game he played.

Other mentions goes to Rob street with tyranids, Ruben Malschaert with space wolves and richard Lloyd with blood angels for getting 3 best opponent votes while everyone else got 2s, 1s and 0s.

Gamesworkshop didn't do the rankings so i will.

It was hard to fit in 20 points because of the ties and we ended up with 21 players in the top 20!

TOP 20:

1. 20points - Ruben Malschaert - Space wolves
2. 16 points - Ben Mason - Space wolves
3. = 15 points - Alex Whitehead - Dark eldar
3. = 15 points - Richard Lloyds - Blood Angels
5. = 14 points - Chris Dickinson - Tyranids
5. = 14 points - Paul Smith - Space marines
5. = 14 points - Stephen Cutis - Space marines
5. = 14 points - Rob Hoyle - Orks
5. = 14 points - Phil Lowther - Imperial guard
5. = 14 points - Emily Siddaway - Eldar
5. = 14 points - Daniel Russel - Dark Eldar
5. = 14 points - Christopher Price - Blood Angels
13. = 13 points - Korak Schoone - Tyranids
13. = 13 points - Shaun Morris - Space marines
13. = 13 points - Andrew Robinson - Space marines
13. = 13 points - Matt Ashworth - Space marines

2 - Tyranid
2 - Imperial Guard
1 - Eldar

Results to come

How many players of each race

It would be intersting to see what the others used, but Koppo was the top ork player, and I was the top marine player, so we both came in joint 5th.

This list does not quite tell the whole story. Although you have a final score, it is weighted against who you played. I came above the other marine player who got 14 as I had played 3 other players who also got top player awards.

Nice find though Jez.

Thanks Jez,

Seems odd that IG got the best army average but only 2 in the top 21? Have I read that right?

If so they must have just had a steady average with no shit players (like me for example )

I'll take a look at the results sheet at home and see what the average result were.

Yeah seems that way.

It's a crap system for working out winners. To be honest, most of what GW do these days is crap.

I honestly have no idea how your placing in a Tournament can be influenced by how well other players do (other than the obvious they are worse than you so they get ranked lower ect.). That's just plain stupid.

To be fair to the system, only one person won all 5 games, and he was the player who won the whole event, so it worked out even in the end. IG only had one player who got 12 points, so thats 4 wins or 3 wins and a draw with 2 points best army award, so even the top IG player lost at least 1 game.

I was taking to the chief referee, and thier take on the system was to make it less competative and more about having a gaming weekend. Thats why its no longer called a Grand Tournament.

Thus rendering the whole thing borderline useless for determining which armies are competitive (and their builds) and which are not. Oh well.

90% of people think they are above average.

Statistically Improbable. Psychologically Inevitable.
