Default Legio Custodes Aquilon Terminators

Today, we’re looking at the latest addition to the Legio Custodes with the Aquilon Terminators, walking tanks in advanced Terminator armour wielding powerful close-assault weaponry. We had a preview of these guys at Warhammer Fest – and now here’s your chance to get up close and personal with these elite warriors.

The design of the Aqulion Terminators blends elements from the Custodian Guard with Cataphractii-Pattern Terminator armour, as well as drawing on a wealth of classic Warhammer 40,000 art. The armour has a hand-crafted, artisanal feel in contrast to the brutal and industrial nature of Space Marine power armour during the Age of Darkness, while details like the raised gorget and recessed helmet cavity tie the Aquilon Terminators to the Legio Custodes Dreadnoughts. These models are posed dynamically and given a sense of movement and flexibility that hints at the additional mobility provided by Aquilon Pattern Terminator armour.

Aquilon Terminators aren’t just equipped defensively, they’re also some of the most heavily armed of the Legio Custodes, equipped in this case with infernus firepikes and solarite power talons. Again, these weapons are similar to those wielded by the Terminators of the Space Marines Legions but have an extra degree of deadly craftsmanship – we’re big fans of the eagle’s head on the firepike in particular. Appropriately for the Emperor’s bodyguard, these weapons also have a savage and medieval feel despite their elegance; as well as making for a resplendent ceremonial vanguard for the Master of Mankind, the Legio Custodes are a ferociously capable fighting force.

Aquilon Terminators will be out soon – keep your eyes peeled for more previews and updates right here on Warhammer Community for the Horus Heresy and beyond! In the meantime, it’s a great time to start a Talons of the Emperor army, whether you’re taking advantage of powerful relics like the Telemon Heavy Dreadnought in the Age of Darkness or readying them for a new era of warfare with our boxed set.

Oddly I not feeling the love Lon these guys, I really like the slender heavy flamer. Other than that a bit meh for me, they certainly don't look any more flexible or dynamic than any other mini in termi armour

The helms just look far too large in relation to the rest of the body. :-\ I are disappoint.

It turns out that Chaos has their own band...

I think the main problem of the models is the plumes, actually. The eagle collar/headpiece adds yet more height to the already tall Custodes, which probably means the model stands about 2" tall... which makes the plumes adding yet MORE height to that and just making the area surrounding the head even busier-looking a bad idea.

Normal Custodian Guard already HAVE a 2+/5++ save (with the 3++ SS a mere handful of points away), so if they're still upping protection compared to normal Custodes that's going to get all sorts of interesting.

Ask not the Eldar a question, for they will give you three answers; all of which are true and horrifying to know.
