A lot of people much prefer metal models. I have to say I'm now a plastic convert, but the metal models do feel more 'special'. I would imagine GW have invested a lot of money into producing more in the way of plastic kits, improving techniques used to decrease mould lines, how the model fits etc. In the 12 or 13 years I've been collecting the way plastic models have improved is immense, vastly overshadowing detail on older metal minitures and making the older plastics look very much like toys.
