just looking at the ultramarines set of paint and its pretty much bang on, ok you could argue some of the paints are not required to get the same results, but the reds for example are required for things like command models and assault sergeants etc, if you really wanted to pull the collection of paints apart you could, but if you wanted to paint ultramarines you are not going to go far wrong with the collection. But like anything from GW these bundels are not compulsory purchases, they are just easy to click large chucky sales for people who are not worried about saving money, dont hate GW for it, all retailers do it and all customers fall for it.

They'd have already bought the MEGA PAINT SET for the BARGAIN price of £300+.
I remember a time when the paint set was £150 and it came in a steel case. Thought it was a rip off then, but now I've actually got cash to burn...

That novel would have a very different ending if Bill King was writing it

Agreed, I'd love to see things on the GW site where they show you a colour scheme and then you can add those paints to your cart, there are other modelling site that do this.

Reaper goes one step farther and has a tool where you click on a colour in an image and the paints get added to your cart.

Great idea? ... getting there anyway, scam? ..... only for the dim who expect more than is on offer.

Fall for what ? Buying all the paints the need to achieve a particular finish and no more or less than they need rather than guessing what is required and spending money on paint they don't need?

The red paints are included so that when you realise your mates are sniggering behind your back for playing Ultrasmurfs, you can strip and re-paint them as Blood Angels...

I think that reasoning is sound. It's inevitable that the red thirst will conquer all.

neither, we all fall for retailers various methods of parting us from our coin that we had no intention of spending, its often the difference between a company being successful and not,its as simple as do you want fries with that or do you want to go large or are you ok for glue etc, to making bundles like these, you might only need 80% of the paints but alot of people will just look and go "meh" and click add to basket.
