Default Need Hyper-Competitive 2000pt Nid Army

Okay,
I am relatively new, and while learning how to play I figured out everyone at my venue plays very competitively. I can go out and buy the pieces, I just need a list that can compete. So can anyone help me with the nastiest Nid army ever! Or are Nids not good enough to compete.

Muahahaha! Nids are totally nasty enough to compete. Especially at 2000 points. They can be one of the meanest armies of all. I haven't played much dual force org in 6th, but I used to play 2000 points all the time in 5th. And it is was brutal so I only imagine it is more brutal if you go dual force. So let me see if I can help. They are good when played right. Last tourney I did was 1750 using a list very similar to the last list (without zoanthropes and dropping 9 gaunts for 1750) and I only lost to the guy who won (stupid necrons and CSMs). And even that was a well fought match.

HQ
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)

Troops
Termagaunts - 70 (14 guys)
Termagaunts - 70 (14 guys)
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)

Elites
Hive Guard - 100 (2 units)
Hive Guard - 100 (2 units)
Hive Guard - 50

Heavy
Trygon - 210 (toxin sacs)
Trygon - 210 (toxin sacs)
Trygon - 210 (toxin sacs)
Trygon - 210 (toxin sacs)

That is 2000 points exactly, pretty basic list and could be changed around a lot to add different units for your meta. Last time I played 2000 in 6th I didn't use double force org and luckily had all 3 trygons hit their forces at once. It ended up with them losing their HQ and 3 CSMs in one turn. 4 is just nasty as not a lot of things can deal with 4 trygons before they hit the enemy line (barring Tau of course). Not to mention you're guaranteed at least 4 more troop choices. And you can give the trygon's FNP with the tervigons.

Additionally, the list I did run last 2000 point game was

HQ
Flyrant - biomancy, 2 x TL devourers - 260
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)

Troops
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)
Tervigon - 195 (toxin, adrenal, cataclysm)
Termagaunts - 75 (15 guys)
Termagaunts - 70 (14 guys)

Elites
Hive Guard - 100
Hive Guard - 100
Zoanthropes - 180

Heavy
Trygon - 210 (toxin)
Trygon - 210 (toxin)
Trygon - 210 (toxin)

which was 2000 points and the zoanthropes didn't do much. I would have rather had more hive guard or a carnifex.

hope this helps

Could always run whole psychic choir thing tergivons and as many zoanthropes you can squeeze in to a list backed up by gargoyles and trygons don't know how the list would function but that's what I've seen about

LockeF has some awesome lists, but I am finding hive guard to be less and less good/needed, because of how easily MCs can deal with vehicles in combat, and because meching up always/absolutely is a thing of the past.

I also wouldn't use tervigons as HQ unless running a full tervi-spam list, and even then flyrants are better for anti-flyer, and double force org can still get you plenty of gants and gons.

Here are 3 nidzilla lists from a while ago that are competetitive, decently:

List #1

HQ

Hive Tyrant with Armoured Shell,
Lashwhip/Bonesword, Scything Talons, and 2 boneguard - 360

Tyranid Prime with Boneswords - 90

Troops

20 Termagants - 100

(x3) - 300

10 Termagants - 50

Heavy Support

Trygon - 200

(x6) - 1200

So this list is 2000 on the nose. You will sacrifice any kind of scoring potential, but hopefully you won't need it. Prime/2+ tyrant/guard form an uber-unit and 6 trygons, whether footslogging or deepstriking, will seriously hurt. You don't have tervigons or toxin sacs anywhere, which I like, but I'd add them in at 2.5k.

List #2

HQ
Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers - 260

Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers - 260

Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers - 260

Troops
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands - 195
18 Termagants - 90
Tervigon, Catalyst, Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands- 195

Fast Attack -
Harpy, Stranglethorn Cannon, Cluster Spines - 160
Harpy, Stranglethron Cannon, Cluster Spines - 160
Harpy, Stranglethorn Cannon, Cluster Spines - 160
Harpy, Stranglethorn Cannon, Cluster Spines - 160

So while I do not personally advocate the taking of harpies casually, as they are not good, and don't likespamming things as it is boring, this list would be just awesome to play. The troops are better but still not invincible, and your CC presence really doesn't exist. Luckily, your army is superfast and 7 FMCs will just piss people off.

List #3

HQ
Swarmlord, 2 Boneguard - 430

Prime, Boneswords - 90

Troops
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin - 195

Having posted those up, a slightly more balanced list would be as follows:

So this is a 1500 list if you are scaling up.

Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers, Rolling Biomancy - 260

Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - 195
20 Termagants - 100

Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210
Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210
Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210

A competetitive 2000 list, using the same models and some, is as follows:

Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers, Rolling Biomancy - 260
Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 Devourers, Rolling Biomancy Powers - 260

Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - 195
20 Termagants - 100
Tervigon, Catalyst, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - 195
13 Termagants - 65

Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210
Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210
Trygon, Toxin Sacs - 210

So the first list is a few points under so you have something to play with. They are each hard hitting, anti-flier, strong scoring, and have good target saturation. Other good or decent units I would/could include in a competitive nids list (but these are the best):

Tyrannofexes and Harpies (but questionable for these guys) MC-wise

Ymgarls, Hormagaunts and Gargoyles infantry wise

Hive Guard, Zoanthropes, and the Doom of Malant'i are good medium base guys, and the venomthrope and biovore can be good.

So the good units in the codes there unless I missed some. But the core of any competetitive list will usually be tervigons, flyrants, and trygons.

Necs and dark eldars are the most used

Well, if dark eldar are a very common army in your meta, you might not want to go with nids because dark eldar are the worst matchup you can get. Necrons are solid (best army at the moment) but aren't bad for us compared to any other armies by any means.

By spore I assume you mean mycetic spores, and only some units have the option to take them. I usually don't, as I don't like them, some good units already have reserves built in, they are easy killpoints, have no model, and are very all-or-nothing which doesn't lend itslef well to a super competitive list.
