Default 1k Tyranids

Hq
Tervigon - 185pts
Catalyst
Toxin sacs

Elites
2 zoanthropes - 180
Spore

3 hive guard - 150

Troops
24 hormagaunts - 144

7 stealers - 146
Brood lord scything talons

5 warriors - 190
Death spitters
1 Venom cannon

Starting with my nids again for 6th
Just looking for some feed back on unit choices etc
The warriors feel clunky to me so I was thinking of swapping them out, but let me know what you think.
At this point I'm looking for semi competitive and also take on all comers. Thanks

How ironic it is that as fast as we spread progress and hope throughout the galaxy, the Tyranids spread death and despair. Only united can we hope to stand against them.

First off, glad you are getting back into nids.

I don't have my codex with me but unless you gave the spore for the zoans some equipment it seems a little too expensive, which wll will you a few more points to play around with.

I don't like warriors because of how vunerable they are to like everything, but if you want shooty warriors I would give them a prime for that BS 4.

And you could drop the tervigon for him, who isn't as good as normal because there are no termagants and he is in HQ.

You probably only need 2 hive guard per squad. 3 is overkill, and more, smaller squads gives you more flexibility with your firepower.

I don't like genestealers at all myself since they got kicked in the nuts with the new edition. Ymgarl genestealers (squads of 6-8) are still amazing though.

I would put toxin on the horms. It turns them from good to killers of everything.

My tactics articles, if you need help making a new army, or beating one:

I have a new theory in life - for everything - from ethics to legal cases - it is called pre-emptive self defense.

Hq
Prime - 105
- lash whip and bonesword
- toxin sacs

Elites
2 zoanthropes - 160
Spore

2 hive guard - 100

Troops
24 hormagaunts – 192
- toxin sacs

Tervigon - 185pts
Catalyst
Toxin sacs

20 termagants – 100 pts

15 termagants – 150 pts
- devourers

i like this list alot more now, but i'm not to sure about the gants with devouers though, seems like a lot of points but it is a high volume of shots so it might be ok

If you can, I'd recommend putting the Devilgants into a Mycetic Spore. Having 45 S4 shots arrive out of nowhere can ruin anyone's day. That sort of unit is excellent at glancing transports to death, wrecking light infantry, and causing general chaos in the midst of an enemy army, buying extra time for your Hormagaunts and Tervigon to rampage up the board.
