Default painting yellow/red/white

I am having real trouble painting yellow/red and white colours they always turns out patchy is there some trick to painting them i don't know?

i'm asking cause i want to start collecting some of the special characters from all armys and paint them up for a display but i want to have them looking good up close not just from a distance, so i need a good way to paint these colours

thanks in advance

Get foundation paints. They are a really solid base for lighter colours like yellow or red. Paint them as base colour and paint desired "normal" paint over them

I second this. However, watch out because foundation paints are very thick (especially Iyanden Darksun-- the yellow one), and if you aren't careful you will lose some detail. Good luck!
