Default Camera advice

OK, i'm getting progressively tired of trying to take photos with either my phone or the other halfs REALLY crap million year old digital thing that I recently discovered has a lower resolution than said phone.

Ideas please people.

Ideally not too expensive, actually useful for shooting mini's aswell as some decent photography of other stuff would be cool. I was planning on grabbing a decent DSLR at some point but would like to know what you decent photo takers out there use.

I use a DSLR (but I'm an old SLR snob who wouldn't use a compact if you paid me to) - but the wife has a digital compact zoom.

Lens quality and macro functions are primary concerns. Megapixel rating not so much.
My DSLR is only a 6.1Mp, but I have a macro lens that focuses down to 21cm.

Also, consider a tripod (or some way of stabilising the camera). You don't want to be hand-holding it. I have two flash heads I can use (45* to either side) but other strong light sources will also do.

Hey! Where'd ... Everybody ... go?

yeh a good cam is really important although i havnt had the chance to get my hands on one lol

when i started on this site i used my mum camcorder as a camera- not a good idea
it gave in general, poor quality pics

i think im gonna start using my in-built webcam just cause it will be sooooo much easier than setting up a good place to take pics but i will suffer the consequences lol

but really it comes down to how much ur willing to spend

Hello, I use a Sony Cybershot (about £100 upwards) with good results on macro for miniatures. I can also vouch for Panasonic Lumix range - a very good little digital compact camera for a competitive price - I would also recommend a small tripod, it makes those close ups a lot easier to focus.
Good luck!
