Has anyone else seen it, yet?
I went to watch it yesterday, and I loved it. I can't think of, right now, a piece of criticism.
I saw it yesterday as well, and it was freaking awesome!! I too don't really have any criticisms, my brother thinks that Bryan Cranston was underused but I think his character arc was fulfilled and that him dying was a good way to end his story.
Godzilla, now he was the best thing about the movie. Every scene he's in he dominates, even if it's just his back or his tail appearing, like those scenes early on when you can see him in the ocean just before the A-bomb attacks. His roar, that is a sound that makes the world so silent. It just dominates the movie every time he lets it loose. My favourite part though was the atomic breath, as soon as I saw the blue light I knew what was coming, and it was every bit as epic as I hoped it would be. Especially the last time he used it, now that was an awesome kill.
I also really liked the Mutos, both of them felt like dangerous and also unique opponents for Godzilla. The male being quicker and airborne while the female has the muscle mass and size to take Godzilla on directly. I read somewhere some people felt that Godzilla should have been able to take on both of them, no problem, but considering that the female was nearly his equal in size and most likely in the same league in strength, and the male obviously being faster and more mobile than him; together they made a team that even Godzilla struggled to beat and I quite liked that because it meant that it was possible for Godzilla to be killed, I didn't think he would be but the possibility that he could be kept me on the edge of my seat.
The only thing that I think would have made the movie better is if Godzilla and the Male Muto's confrontation in Hawaii was shown fully, an early fight to tide the audience over until the big final confrontation.
Will be getting this on Blu-ray DVD the very instant it's available.
