Default 1500 Space Marine list for tourney

Hi guys I'm planning to play in a local tourney soon and plan to field my new SM army. I would like to have some comments if there are any possible changes I should think about before mid-March.

I think your Captain would be better off with a combi-melta.

Term squad: 3 chain fists are a little much. I think one on the HF model would be the best.

Your Tac squads are good but I would go with a combi-flamers, go MG and PG in the squads. I hesitate on PG on SMs without FnP

Assault Squads stink. They are not worth the points. Drop them for rhinos or razorbacks in your Tac Squads.

Dev squads.....Your weapon mix is wasting something. You are better off with 4 ML or have a full squad to combat squad them. Drop the combi-plasma for a combi-melta. A TLLC RB would be great here.

Thanks for the help Grinnsira. I was debating whether or not I should keep the assault squad but it seems like every player I've seen at past tourneys has BA or some variant of them and use their assault marines pretty effectively. The reason I don't have armor is due to finances but that's my issue however, I have been toying with the idea of using rhino's at some point. Other than 4 ML in my Dev how bout 2 LC and 2 ML and a combat squad?

Well with no armor that changes things. Looking at taking the assault squad I would drop the Plasma pistols. You need a PW or PF for the sergeant and a flamer or two. Everything hides in cover

The 2 LC, 2ML would work either way. Both are better than LC/HB.

I would switch the MM out in the Dev squad with a ML in the tac squad. That keeps the Dev squad in uniformity and your tac squad is more likely to move forward on the battlefield to bring the MM to bare.

The Dev Squad is pretty bad true enough, 4 Missile Launcher is just better, then you can bring down tanks or frag troops. The weapon mix is too different especially that poor MM with it's 24" range. To be honest Dev's are over priced and you'd be better off with some Dakkapreds. But with no other Armour in your list Dakkapreds are probably out.

I'd swap out the captain for a libby, give him Termie armor with Gate and Avenger and put him with your other termies. The Libby would allow your termies to get into position fast, or out of trouble after a bad DS.
