Default Beginners Competative 1000pt Request

Iím looking to make a Competitive Vanilla Marine Army to fight against some friends who have Orc, Imperial Guard and Chaos Marine armies.

I havenít played any 40k in over 6 years and Only got myself the new Marine Codex today, In my garage I found myself Some older figures I picked up but never did anything with from 6 years ago.

These consist of about 60/70 marines in various states of dissrepair but look liked they consist of a few tactical squads 1 or 2 devastator squads. 6 Termys (2 look like they have cyclone launchers) 3 attack bikes and 2 assult Squads.

I need to try and make a 1k army in the next 2 weeks with some of this as a foundation, From my reading Im thinking ill need a librarian but no idea what armour for it, Im also thinking 1 or 2 razorbacks.

Unfortunately money isnít that easy for me to come by so I may just be able to strech to the 2 razor backs or similar.

What im wondering is what would give me bang for my buck, what would people recommend I purchase and in what priority, I wont be staying at 1k forever and am looking to build it up over the coming months

All advice is greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Hello

From what you have I'll try and give you somting to work with.

Librarian
Bike

10 tactical marines
flamer
sgt w/combi flamer
(rhino)

10 tactical marines
melta gun
sgt w/ combi melta
(rhino)

5 assault terminators
th/ss

10 assault marines
sgt/melta bombs
2 plasma pistols

Something lke that will get you 1000 points it's not hyper comp but it's something to give you an idea of what you could run

with the models you have you could add maybe another 500-750 points.

for what units I would suggest....depends on what chapter you want or what you like but preds and bikes arn't too bad, tactical marines in transports are a really good choice and get the job done.

Hope this is helpful to you and welcome back to the game.

OP, with what you have it sounds like you might be better off using Codex: Blood Angels. Their Devastators are cheaper than Vanilla Marines and can hang out with a Sanguinary Priest to give them Feel No Pain to make them tougher. Their Assault Squads can be taken as a troops choice so they can score objectives, can take meltaguns, and again can join with a Sanguinary Priest to get FnP and Furious Charge.

Whether you use BA or stick with Vanilla, yes, Librarians and troop transports are very good ideas.
