Default 1k point Bike army

OK heres the list I've come up with for my next army, 1000 points. Making my own chapter, will be entirely bikes. Still need to come up with fluff, but this will probably be a 1000 point static list and I'll never really change it. So any suggestions as to how you think it might hold up in say a tourney situation would be appreciated.

HQ 1 - 405
Space Marine Captain on Bike
- artificer armor, power sword, melta bomb
Command squad on bikes(5) - 2 w/ power sword
apothecary on bike

HQ 2 - 135
Chaplain on Bike

Troop 1 - 230
5 bike marines
1 sergeant w power sword
1 attack bike w multi-melta

Troop 2 - 230
5 bike marines
1 sergeant w power sword
1 attack bike w multi-melta

Burn the Heretic
Kill the Mutant
Purge the Unclean

you need more troops- take a handfull of casualities and you'll be dead
I would scrap the chaplain to max out the 2 bike squads with 2flamers, a power fist and a melta attack bike (8 bikes, 1 attack bike).

I would be tempted to take another troops unit instead of the command squad. That means that if you combat squad the 2 full units (5bikes- 2flamer, power fist and 3bikes with attack bike) you'll have 5 troops units, 2 good for combat, 2 for anti-tank and 1 variable (depending on how you set it up).

I just played a 1500pt white scars army today with Khan leading it... by wolves just took it apart- I wiped it out without losing much. It came in from tha flanks piecemeal and I chewed it up as it came on... if you use a small bike army keep it in 1 place and concentrate your attacks on unsupported units. Try to avoid the incomming fire and use your speed to shread the enemy a unit at a time- use your manouverability to fight all the battles that you want to fight, with the units you want to use.

I know its lacking troops... my goal is to use cover and speed as much as possible and then get to melee, feels like the command squad would be pretty unstoppable in melee being toughness 5 with apothecary's FNP and all those power weapons re-rolling misses with the chaplain. But yeah I think I would just need to hope for an annihilation game. I'd probably have no chance in sieze ground and could hope for tactical draw at best with capture and control.

I was going to make a list like this but I had no idea where to get all the bikes from. Anyway...

I would scrap the chaplain and get some more troops as Tim/Steve said cause then you can combat squad and 2 HQ's is sort of pointless in 1000 points (I know this from experience).

My recommendation would be to take at least one troops choice not on bikes, something small like a scout squad and have them snipe/ provide cover for your bikes. Also, they can camp on an objective in your deployment zone.

Ravenwing battalian set gives you- LS, ~6 bikes and an attack bike for £49.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...Id=prod1060246

You get all the parts to make normal bikes from them for the same price as getting the bikes and attack bikes seperately (so the LS and bonus parts are free).

I would never ever play 2HQ at 1000pts if I played any other armies otehr then what I do... SW have no choice, they MUST play 2HQs at 1k pts and Nids have hive tyrants, which are very tempting...
If I played nilla marines I would go for 1HQ max at 1k, probably 2 at 1.5k and start thinking about special characters at 2k+ (though not Khan.. ever).

Thatís the smartest thing said so far for this army list.

Quote:
HQ 1 - 405
Space Marine Captain on Bike
- artificer armor, power sword, melta bomb
Command squad on bikes(5) - 2 w/ power sword
apothecary on bike
The Capt. is plenty enough for this army. A 405 pt. retinue is almost half your army. I would not do this. The capt., give him hell fire rounds, a storm shield and a PW or PF.

[quote]HQ 2 - 135
Chaplain on Bike[quote]
Ditch this.

Quote:
Troop 1 - 230
5 bike marines
1 sergeant w power sword
1 attack bike w multi-melta

Troop 2 - 230
5 bike marines
1 sergeant w power sword
1 attack bike w multi-melta
In order for these to be effective, the need to be increased, and take more of them. I would recommend at least 3 bike squadrons at 6 bikers each + attack bike. That should give you 21 models.

Itís very tempting to get in melee with bikers due to their high toughness, but these are not Plague Marine bikers (who become T6) and these are too few to make a difference against hordes or elite infantry.

Using this as a fast gun line would be better.

Good hunting.

My plan is to buy the ravenwing battleforce for this . But I'll be making my own codex chapter out of it.

The land speeders that come in the battleforces will be given to my blood angels.
