I dont think all flamers for your tac squads is necessarily the way to go. It will work good vs hordes, but not much else (i.e. MEQ). Perhaps look at giving your Librarian The Shield Eternal as opposed to just a regular SS.

I would stick with the flamers over the SE for the Libby. Flamers can (in the right circumstances) get dice rolling way better than a bolter, and provide you a buff to your Overwatch if your tiny squads get charged. The SE is really only worth it on a dude with 3 wounds.

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I think the shield eternal is a bit pricey for a two-wound support HQ, but something to consider. Also, flamers are cheap and complement the bolter quite well, adding automatic hits for the small unit in shooting. In any tournament list, there will of course be things that are better against TEQs, MEQs, hordes, etc. Replacing the flamer with a plasma gun is tempting but would cost 40 points for all four squads. I just don't think that change would make its points back with the current setup.

I like this one more than the last for sure. I'm still not sold on whirlwinds, but they would get dice rolling if you dropped two pie plates on MEQ...the only unfortunate thing is how easy 3+'s get made. I had a Furioso with blood talons get stuck in for three full turns (6 rounds of combat) with a guy that had a storm shield. That guy made probably between 20 and 30 armour saves.

Fucking dice man.

I think that's a major key in this edition of the game. I certainly lose marines more to volume of fire than I do against low Ap weapons. Plus the xenos races are powerful and prevalent, requiring that volume of diverse firepower.

Plus, I've had tremendous success with Whirlwinds; I think the key is to recognize before the game even starts what you can and can't expect of them. They're not Basilisks. But for 65 points a piece I think they're awesome at killing everything lighter than power armor and are very survivable with their barrage option.

I'm assuming the Chaplain suits up with the Terminators, but I don't see any really accurate delivery system for them. Praying to the Deep Strike gods?

Your tacticals are gonna be great at short range, but your Razorbacks want to sit back and snipe. Are you actually rolling them forward? Or sitting back and footslogging the men?

Great questions. Depending on my deployment, I sometimes deep strike into safe areas to claim line breaker, but most often walk the Terminators, and have found good results in doing so. The tactical squads always stay inside the Razorbacks. I often split then into pairs and send them tank hunting. If some get blown up, I walk those guys back to my objectives. If one is in a good position, I'll send it forward to claim an objective and mop up any stragglers. So they're kind of two phased. They've actually worked great with my play style.
