Do you have MBs on each member of the Command Squad?

If so I would drop them and the extra armour on your rifleman to equip your Libby with the Shield Eternal. 4+ deny the witch, eternal warrior, maintain a 3++ save still.

What role do you see your honour guard filling?

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

The reason I ask about the Honour guard is that with the exception of the Apothecary they might be better served as Sternguard. I mean really, that's 5 more or less standard marines with a plasma gun and a Rhino for 250 points. FnP is good, but even as a BA player I wouldn't say it's worth that many points.

15 points for FNP I think is worthwhile, especially if you have special characters attached to the squad who can benefit from it (assuming this is legal), like Eternal Shield wielding characters. 3++ and FNP, yes please.

I think if you give a Libby Eternal Shield and have him roll on biomancy you can basically buff him to be an absolute monster. Of course, this depends on what powers you roll, but to quote Admiral Adama "Sometimes you gotta roll the hard six."

I think with Command Squad you need to be really certain what you want them to do. I am going with melta and a drop pod for my Salamander chapter, because in this build they are absolutely amazing at shutting down AV14 on turn 1. But I guess you could give them plasma and a grav pistol and have them hunt TEQ in a rhino, razorback or drop pod. Just make sure they are focused on a specific task.

Sternguard I feel are completely different: They are designed to be extremely flexible and I build and use them accordingly (drop pod, heavy flamers and combi-bolters with their special ammo means they can deal with literately any unit).

Honour Guard: Haven't even considered them as they just don't seem worth it and I don't know how they could fit in, their options seem poor in comparison.

Terminator Equivalent, or anything that has a 2+ armour save. There's a lot of acronyms to catch up on!

Since the squad is mounted in a Rhino the Terminator armoured Librarian can't ride with them. Their current function is as a 5 man unit unto themselves. You would have to group the Terminators with the Rhino embarked command squad for sure.

The point I was making was that a 5 man Sternguard squad with two plasma guns and a Rhino is 185 points, making it a 65 point difference.

Now that I look at that I say: huh?! How is that squad 250 and how did it get plasma guns? Command squads don't have access to special weapons and they cost 235 with an Apothecary, 4x plasma pistols, melta bombs and a rhino. Still I think I would take the Sternguard squad over that and beef it up with 2 plasma guns, maybe do a las/plas razorback instead of a rhino. 10 points more than the pistol toting command squad in a Rhino and 5 points less than what you had it cost at initially.

By all means not what you have to do, just what I would do.

...but it doesn't bother you that they can't take plasma guns?
