Default Imperial Fists First Company (2000)

Hey Guys n Gals,

So this is my 2000 Points of Imperial Fists that I plan to work on in the future when I've finished my current project the Iron Warriors (1500 Points with a Shadowsword for 2000) I wanted to get back into marines and always loved the Imperial Fists! I'm going to make a display board of the Imperial Fists defending against the Iron Warriors over a 3/2 table. (1 standard realm size)

Well anyways here's the list no need for fluff as to why these guys are fighting ;) it's pretty self explanatory!

Imperial Fists

HQ: 200
Captain Darnath Lysander - 200

Troops: 465
Tactical - Power Fist - Flamer - Heavy Bolter - 195
Rhino - 35

Tactical Squad - Power Fist - Meltagun - Multi-Melta - 200
Rhino - 35

Elites: 775
Sternguard Veterans - Combi-Melta x2 - 260
Drop Pod - Locator Beacon - 45

Terminator Squad - Cyclone Missile Launcher - Chainfist - 235
Terminator Squad - Cyclone Missile Launcher - Chainfist - 235

Fast Attack: 220
Vanguard Veterans - Pair of Lightning Claws - Power Sword - Power Axe - Jump Packs - 220

Heavy Support: 340
Thunderfire Cannon - 100
Vindicator - Dozer Blade - 120
Vindicator - Dozer Blade - 120

So pretty much I wanted to do a first company list. I'll make the tacticals look like Sternguard as well, I was going to avoid the special and heavy weapons but they will probably come in handy haha .

Lysander goes with the Sternguard to soak up wounds and make them met efficient with Bolter drill. Everyone comes down on locator beacon (people always forget about drop pods!) and vanguard charge while the terminators can handle infantry and tanks alike.

I did want a command squad but thought better with no transport the vanguard will perform better haha. I've got two 25th Anniversary models and want to use one in this army

A must choice for fluff Imperial Fist army.

Troops: 465
Tactical - Power Fist - Flamer - Heavy Bolter - 195
Rhino - 35

Tactical Squad - Power Fist - Meltagun - Multi-Melta - 200
Rhino - 35

These are great, but I suggest replacing the Heavy Bolter and MM with Missile Launchers, as Missile Launchers can work against tank and infantry alike. My preference is to use Meltagun for both squads, but flamer is also a good option.

Elites: 775
Sternguard Veterans - Combi-Melta x2 - 260
Drop Pod - Locator Beacon - 45

Terminator Squad - Cyclone Missile Launcher - Chainfist - 235

I never use Terminators without Land Raiders, as they are footslogging without their transport, and other unit will just avoid them. I suggest changing them with Assault Terminator for great close-combat capabilities, and give them a Land Raider Crusader to move forward.

Sternguards can be used with Lysander well, just don't get them in close combat.

Fast Attack: 220
Vanguard Veterans - Pair of Lightning Claws - Power Sword - Power Axe - Jump Packs - 220

Vanguard Veterans, in my opinion, is not a good unit. It cost much, and it doesn't give you much power, because Vanguard can easily be outclassed by other units. I suggest changing this into an Attack Bike Squadron, with MM. Attack Bike can ruin metal boxes. Alternatively, you can use Land Speeder Squadron with MM, but you can only take 2 of them with 20 points left.

Heavy Support: 340
Thunderfire Cannon - 100
Vindicator - Dozer Blade - 120
Vindicator - Dozer Blade - 120

I suggest that you swap the Vindicators with the Predators (2 x TL LC, AC). They have the same exact cost. Vindicators are great though if you want to follow the fluff (After all, Imperial Fist is a master of siege, and Vindicator is used well in city sieges.) Vindicators are great at template killing, but they have to move forward, not to mention that the enemy will preferably target your Vindicators at first turn. The Thunderfire cannon is good.
