It is 997 of millenium 41, and the eastern fringe still reels from the blows dealt by hive fleet Kraken. Though this second incursion by the Tyranids has been shattered, dozens of systems are still under the threat of invasion by the now innumerable splinter fleets and the Imperium struggles to answer these cries for aid. Graia, a world noted as cleansed, is on the brink of falling and with it a stable passage to the Moloch, Triplex Phall, and Kimmeria systems.
Though spread thin across the Segmentum, a relief force of half a dozen Imperial Guard regiments and elements of the Black Templars spearhead the defense of Delta Tao. Amidst battle lines to contain the xenos threat from spreading across the entirety of Delta Tao Tertius, the systems capital and second largest factory world, a much smaller and more desperate battle is soon to begin.
A single platoon of the Elysian 217th drop regiment has been rerouted from providing reinforcment to one of the many weakening elements of the main cordon. Their mission has been codified black, the locating and recovery of a high valued individual. The targets general location has been confirmed as eight hours from one of the weakest sections of the cordon and loss of the target cannot come to pass.
And this is where you all come in, as members of the Elysian 17th. Though you do not know the details of this assignment, that your being re-tasked for it when others are laying down their lives speaks volumes for its importance.
-Minimum of eight sentences per action thread post, and you are free to post as many times between updates as you like as long as you meet that minimum.
-Character death is a possibility, actions have consequences
-As the GM my say is final; I will [generally] not hesitate to say no or do something the way I think it should be done. If something does not make sense to you, or you have a problem with something, than feel free to comment on it in the recruitment thread. No whinging though, PM that to me so no one has to look like a child.
-No god modding; as GM I am the one running this show, so deciding whats going to happen is my call. The players and their characters will shape how certain events come about, and where the story goes. But you will not be taking control of another player character without their say-so, and you will not be altering the plot because you are bored or it suits your ‘needs’ (like generating enemies during a less active section of the story, so you can get into a fight.)
-Give me a heads up if you are not going to be able to post for a time (maybe something major has happened in real life or your experiencing writers block and need some time or inspiration.) All I need is something like “shits hitting the fan at home, won’t be able to post for a while”, this keeps me from holding things back for others while giving me some indication that there is something else on your plate at this time.
-If you have questions, if there is anything in an update your unsure of or would like clarity on if an action would be considered going to far, PM me. There are quite a few who can attest to the fact that I am more than willing to work with you; because while it may be easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission I tend to forgive by killing off your character.
Now why don't we get into characters. To start I'm looking for at least five, and as is my habit there isn't a true cap until we get towards the end.
You are members of one of the Elysian drop troop regiments, light and mobile warfare is something your rather used to. The 217th is a younger regiment, having been founded about three years ago and only having taken part in the later two years of the second Tyrannic war. Not everyone is young though, as older regiments do send some of their own back to train the newer foundings.
(17-24, one character can go as old as 35)
[A habit or behaviour that everyone has, perhaps brought on by stress or irritation. Whats yours?]
[Elysian regiments are known for being amongst the most fearless and disciplined in the Imperium, possibly bested only by the likes of Krieg, Cadia, and Mordia. But everyone has something that spooks them even if they would rather not let others know.]
Equipment and Weapons:
Everyone has drop troop fatigues (essentially a flight suit) and flak armoured reinforced with a carapace chest-plate, frag grenades, a combat knife and laspistol, and either a lasgun or shotgun as standard.
-One player may replace their lasgun/shotgun with a flamer or grenade launcher, or have specialist training. (Specialists have some training in the operation of vehicles and tinkering with machines.)
-Another player may replace their lasgun/shotgun for a heavy stubber, storm bolter, or medical training.
-In many of my RP's there are different things that I try out. Remnants of Kraken is no different, however this time I am going to let everyone in on at a couple of them. This RP will be using a map of sorts, it will be the overall area in which the story takes place and contains the various locations you'll have access to. There is also the possibility that someone in the group has been compromised, is a traitor. That persons objective would obviously be the elimination of the target, and possibly the rest of the players.
Only that player and I will know that they are the traitor, though it is possible for others to figure it out. Be wary though, for I don't aim to make that an easy task and you could very easily sentence a loyal soldier to his or her death.
