Default The Lost Song of Idharae(Eldar RP)

***I anticipated that I would be a lot busier with stuff lately but it seems my schedule is lightweight and a friend with which we write stories together had this idea, and since I always wanted to see how different GMing is in a forum rp I will go forward with this one***
*As long as we are less than 7 recruitment is open and you can make char sheets. Then I will PM you.

"This transmission speaks to all the sane ones whose wisdom dictates them to close their ears shut to the whispers of the great enemy and strike a decisive blow into their flawed hearts. This is warlock Caerronath of the pure Dorhai, waving reason to everyone who has still remained untouched from the twisting powers of Chaos.

Our warriors fight for our very survival, while our enemies only fight for the thrill of battle. They scamper around the battlefield, eagerly searching for a way to die, for the are fools that get crushed by our superior intellect. Their mad sorcerers chant incantations in hopes that their weak spirit deities will come to their aid but all they accomplish is ignite an ember against our unstoppable river of doom.

They seek to singe us and scar us and drive us away from our pure brothers, without knowing that they only cause our wrath and that our vengeance will be swift and deadly. The great enemy and his soul rotten acolytes have managed to salvage the very essence we seek to protect. Among the hulk of undoubted prowess they cowardly escaped our supremely trained fighters and retrieved the Infinity Circuit of the misjudged and betrayed craftworld of Idharae, the only purity that remains among the misguided aliens who called themselves Eldar.

This is the moment where the corruption inside you must be destroyed for you must aid our noble fighters in their common goal. Their blind transports will pass directly above the location that only true servants of the Eldar can decipher from this message. Lend us your force with due haste so you can prove your innocence from the perils of the Warp."

The above transmission has reached the ears of the Eldar in many parts of the galaxy and their leaders already consent in sending task forces to the encrypted location which seems to be a space hulk in relative distance to the Hive World of Mordian. Your mind believes in the words of the warlock of the mysterious craftworld which is renowned for its sense of purity to the point of refusing to communicate even with fellow Eldar and if an Infinity Circuit is at stake, it has to be recovered immediately. I refrained from putting more info on this opening and keeping the main events for the opening update when players are found.

The rules are pretty much the standard rules other GMs mention:
-No god modding.

-Respect your fellow players.

-Posts should have a normal size depending on the situation(I will define the situation for each player specifically on each update as I have seen GMs here do artfully and I expect smaller posts when arriving to a location in comparison to a post about fighting but good roleplays and interactions are always rewarded).

-If for an X reason you can't post within a week of the update contact me here or in contact info I will provide to work it out. Entries after recruitment is closed for replacements are accepted. I would like to keep updates at a minimum of 1 per week after the roleplay starts and earlier within 12h range of when everyone posts their part.

-If you end up delaying long enough to skip an update your character will get somehow injured which will be explained. Enough of those will lead to his death.

-Make sure you have a good time. I have seen that stuff like co-op posts, player-to-player interaction and cool roleplay choices in your posts can lead to awesome results judging from roleplays out there.

Your character will be an Eldar exarch* ,aka a very trained aspect warrior with exceptional combat abilities, of a craftworld sent by a superior to supervise a task force that has been sent. He doesn't have to be the only exarch of course so you should make note of the task force and the manner of his choice on your character background to make an even better character. Atm I am looking for 5-6 players max, but can do more if your character is good and you assume you can frequent, with the mood to participate in an Eldar rp and in return I will try to keep it as interesting as possible.

I would also like you to post if you are interested enough to make a character, if you would prefer a "reasonable" combat system in which I will give information as to the rate at which you can face the enemies assigned to you or a combat system where you will describe your actions in a good post after I give you the "script" of the fight you want to do via instant messaging or pm.(This sounds the best to me)
Anything however is possible for your enjoyment.

*: One of the characters can be a warlock on first come-first served priority.

================================================== ================================================== ================================================== ==============

Character Sheet I provide you to fill in(I apologize if you think there is a load of info on some sections but since you only have to choose one Combat Proficiency it shouldn't trouble you much).
-I provide the short aspect descriptions to enhance a potential feeling of "badassery".-

Name:
Age: *Eldar are presumed to live a total of 1500 and some times more years. The maturity is reached after 100 years reportedly although sources provide that the Eldar are never really children and the 100 age threshold is more for combat ready. Exarchs and Warlocks however have walked their path and are not possibly very young so make it as realistic as possible*
Craftworld Affiliation:
Combat Proficiency: Here you choose what type of aspect warrior your character is:
>
Dire Avengers-The Dire Avengers follow Khaine in his aspect as a noble and merciless warrior, and are the most tactically flexible and numerous of all the Aspect Warriors.
>
Howling Banshees-Howling Banshees represent a unique facet of the war god Kaela Mensha Khaine. Fearsome close combat specialists who draw their inspiration from the unearthly creature with which they share a name.
>
Striking Scorpions-They epitomise the deadly attributes of their namesake, which can sting and kill a creature many times its size. Preferring to stalk their enemy and strike at them from the shadows, they are merciless killers who revel in the hunt and the kill.
>
Dark Reapers-The most sinister of the Aspect Warriors, Dark Reapers emulate Khaine in his aspect as "the Destroyer," and specialize in the use of destructive, long-range weaponry.
>
Fire Dragons-Embodying the writhing, sinewy dragon of Eldar myth, Fire Dragons are aggressive and warlike close combat fighters who utilize heat weapons to destroy enemy vehicles and heavy targets.
>
Swooping Hawks-The Swooping Hawks take their name from the wild hunting birds of Eldar mythology, who symbolize revenge and retribution. Just as the birds of legend contain the spirit of a murdered Eldar, hovering over their killers as a mark of guilt, so too do the Swooping Hawks fly across the battlefield, dealing swift death to their enemies.
>
Warp Spiders-Taking their name from the same creatures who protect the Infinity Circuits of their Craftworlds, Warp Spiders field an aggressive defense and make use of their teleportation devices to attack the enemy suddenly and disappear before they can retaliate.
>
Shining Spears-The Shining Spears are a rare type of Eldar Aspect Warrior, embodying the spear of Kaela Mensha Khaine which struck like lightning and kill an enemy with a single blow. The Shining Spears carry the fight directly to the enemy, pouncing upon them without warning to deliver a killing blow.
>
Shadow Spectres-The Shadow Spectres are members of a recently-rediscovered Eldar Warrior Aspect. This shrine specializes in the deployment of stealthy, highly-mobile heavy firepower.
>
The Warlock if we have any will either be a combat oriented Warlock or a Spiritseer who will have his own personal squad of 3 Wraithguards for whom he can provide info on his Bio for a more classy character.
>

Appearance: Mostly based on your exarch type your looks will be predefined but you are free to add general information like height, any unique signs or any unique kind of equipment(of equal rate with the default one) the character has.

Personality: Eldar can have many beliefs and goals depending on their origins so you can be really creative here.

Gear: Mostly based on your aspect, all Eldar exarchs have Enhanced Rune armor of their Aspect which can be imbued with spirit stones containing the spirits of past exarchs for knowledge and assistance. This part can be mentioned as well in Bio as in Appearance.

Note you must choose one weapon for each arm from the ones mentioned and sometimes your aspect weapon/equipment, choices for which will also be mentioned. Dual wield weapons have to be paired, eg a howling banshee can't have a Mirrorsword and a Power Weapon etc. If you happen to not know what a mentioned weapon is you can ofc look them up.

The Warlock's Rune Armor has ornaments made of wraith bone and his spirit stones can project a psychic field that somewhat reduces damage taken.
>
Dire Avenger: Dual wield of Avenger Shuriken Catapult and Shuriken Pistol/Diresword/Power Weapon/Shimmershield/another Catapult. To make up for no combat specialty, you can have a set of 3 Plasma Grenades and a deploy-able Force Field which can provide perfect cover from one direction when it is set up.
>
Howling Banshee: Power Weapon/Execution/Triskele and Shuriken Pistol or dual wield of Mirrorswords.
All Howling Banshees have their Banshee Mask, a powerful sonic weapon which uses a psychosonic amplifier to turn their battle cry into a howling shriek of psychic rage which attacks their enemies' central nervous system.
>
Striking Scorpion: Biting Blade and Shuriken Pistol/Scorpion's Claw or dual wield of Chainsabres which will also give you ranged firepower. If you are a Striking Scorpion you also choose between: 1) a Mandiblaster, an Eldar weapon system in the form of pods built into either side of the helmets of Striking Scorpions which fires a hail of deadly metallic shards that act as a conductor to a follow-up intense laser burst, or 2)reinforced plating on your Rune Armor that will make you literally immune to side arms and light firepower.
>
Dark Reaper: A Reaper Launcher or a larger Eldar Missile Launcher or a Tempest Launcher or a Shuriken cannon. Your exarch expertise allows you for deadly accurate shots even with the heaviest weapons which will potentially bypass cover and kill enemies who thought themselves protected.
>
Fire Dragon: Fusion Gun or Fire Pike or Dragon Breath Flamer. Fire Dragons carry Melta bombs. Fire Dragon Aspect Armor is stiffer and more resilient in comparison to the normal armor of other Aspect warriors.
>
Swooping Hawk: Hawk's Talon/Sun Rifle and Grenade Pack/Power Weapon. The Grenade Pack can include 3 grenades from Frag/Krak/Plasma/Haywire. All Swooping Hawks have standard Swooping Hawk wings which allow them to fly short distances but as an exarch you have mastery over them, you can reach extreme heights to re position yourself and you are also trained in aerial combat.
>
Warp Spider: 2 Death Spinners or a Spinneret Rifle. You also have Powerblades despite not being the most resilient aspect in melee. Your aspect armor is equipped with a Warp Spider Jump Generator which allows for teleportation in and out of battle and you can have either an Enhancer upgrade which lets you carry nearby Eldar with you during your teleports or a Wraithbone upgrade that will provide more damage resistance especially against psychic powers.
>
Shining Spear: Star Lance or Power Weapon. Shining Spears have a Jetbike that allows them to do perfect complex high-speed maneuvers. You can either keep the fast form of the Jetbike or replace it with a Shuriken Cannon form, capable of suppressing infantry while moving.
>
Shadow Spectre: Prism Blaster or Haywire Launcher and a jetpack. You also make use of the Ghostlight, a matrix that synchronizes the movements and actions of the Eldar Shadow Spectres near you.
Your training also lets you to choose one of the following exarch powers:
Cynosure: The Exarch is skilled in calibrating the Ghostlight, allowing the squad to fire more accurately when the matrix is used.
Withdraw: The Exarch is skilled at judging the best opportunities for the squad to withdraw, regroup, and take up a new firing position.
>
Warlock: Witchblade or Wraithbone Spear. Your free hand can be used to fire psychic bolts as frequently as you would fire a shuriken pistol and Eldritch Blasts that can damage enemies in an area. Eldritch Blasts and the above psychic abilities you will choose cannot be used too frequently, and their use will depend on your stamina during the battle. Keep in mind that enemy psykers can interact with you and attempt to tackle you mentally if you use them in their range. You have to choose 2 of the following psychic abilities:
-Ancestral Force Field: Your spirit stones are charged with your energy to create a shield that absorbs harm around you and refreshes you for a short period of time.
-Immolator Strike: You can engulf a chosen area in warp fire, that will devour and singe enemies that cannot withstand it.
-Advanced Telekinesis: In the thick of battle you can quickly concentrate to alter the movement of projectiles or even normal sized enemies and control the forces affecting them for some moments.
-Greater Focus: Greatly enhances the accuracy and resilience of Eldar around you for a short time.
-Wind Slash: You charge your blade in performing a cross-patterned slash which sends nearby enemies flying while enemies engaged with you in melee are either grinded to minced meat or if they are bulky enough suffer grievous cuts.
>
Side-Note: Spiritseers are not as effective in melee combat and close-range psychic abilities since a big part of their mind is used to co-ordinate their Wraithguard whose weapons are powerful especially against group targets blasting them to pieces. So you are advised to pick accordingly.

Note that the descriptions provided on the equipment can be called to use during a combat fight to help your action or your general combat critically succeed.

Bio: Here I should expect the past information about the character and how he/she was sent to the mission mentioned. Memories from when he was walking his path are a very good addition. Keep in mind that the most recent point in the bio can be when and with who he/she is sent as the first update will cover the manner of your arrival.

So this is the first forum recruitment I post so I hope it was satisfying enough, I didn't do a previous interest check because I assumed its a standard w40k theme. The recruitment will be open till the players are gathered so don't assume it abandoned for any reason.

Here is my character sheet.

Name: Ayendyl Issyren
Age: 287
Craftworld Affiliation: Arach-Qin

Combat Proficiency: Swooping Hawk

Appearance: Ayendyl is of average height for an Eldar male at 6'4". His green eyes have seen just shy of 200 years of combat in service of the swooping hawks shrine of Arach-Qin. With long flowing blonde hair, Ayendyl is rather the visage of what many Terrans would expect to see if they ever saw an Eldar in person. His rune armor possesses two spirit stones which sit side by side in the center of the chest plating. The rune armor itself, which is a light blue, with forest green accenting panels throughout and a pure white plume on the helm has been worn by one other exarchs and thus Ayendyl is granted the council of the fallen warrior Lylaria Kysel's spirit from time to time.

Personality: Ayendyl is impulsive and fearless when it comes to carrying out his duty for Arach-Qin. While it leads some from other Aspects to view him as reckless and impatient, but those traits also make him an incredibly effective Swooping Hawk Exarch. He views his honor as sacred and will never compromise himself or those who serve with him.

Gear: The light blue and forest green swooping hawk rune armor worn by Ayendyl has as all Eldar armor does adapted its form to suit its current wearer. Previously worn by the female Exarch Lyaria Kysel, her spirit stone rests within the rune armor next to Ayendyl's and at times will offer him guidance or advice. Ayendyl's chosen armament consists of a Sun Rifle, a powerful beam weapon that fires a singular beam which splits off into numerous, dazzlingly bright colored smaller beams. It is an ideal weapon for dealing with troops during strafing runs, or can be utilized in air to air combat by creating a harrowing problem for any enemy flyers, be they infantry or vehicles. He also wields a power sword with a unique feature of a rather long handle which allows for two-handed control, the elongated handle places the hands slightly farther apart but makes it ideal for large sweeping strokes, which can take down airborne foes or tear through enemies when Ayendyl decides to keep his feet on the ground.

Bio: Ayendyl started out his life like many Eldar, simply trying to follow the path and be at peace of mind and spirit. However once he began to see the horrors of the galaxy and the spawn of the warp his beliefs shifted, not away from the path, but in his belief of his role. He felt his place in the Path of the Eldar was to embrace his prowess in combat and utilize it to protect those who could not do so for themselves. As he developed in the Swooping Hawks of Arach-Qin his skills quickly gained a reputation as one of the best warrior of the Aspect. His older sister Kylara Issyren, a young (at 434 years of age) farseer noticed some disturbances in her brother's future.

First among the concerns surrounding Ayendyl was his recklessness and borderline aggressive tendencies in combat. As this grew from a onetime occurrence to typical battlefield conduct it was deemed necessary to keep an eye on the younger Issyren. After 53 years of service under the service of the exarch Varykuya he was told he could no longer remain amongst the Shrine and needed to go to another which needed an Exarch of its own.

The Seers and Warlocks of Arach-Qin believe the distress call from Dorhai to be genuine, but, given the limits of their own forces, they have only been able to send a token force, enough to show their support for Dorhai, but not enough to turn the tide of an entire war, but perhaps just enough to turn the tide of a few key battles. Ayendyl's Shrine of the bloodhawk as well as two squads of Dire Avengers from Arach-Qin have been sent to aid Dorhai in their hour of need.

Cool, Ayendil seems to have embodied the prospect of the Eldar whose emotions are always felt to the extreme.

Waiting for some more now.

Name: Feluna

Age: 497

Craft world Affiliation: Bein-Fae

Combat Proficiency: Warlock

Appearance: Feluna stands at 6'3", slightly shorter than the average Eldar female. Like all the craftworld's warriors she is lithe and athletic, her body has been constantly trained and tested for centuries. Her armour and robes bear the deep purple and white of her craftworld and its signature rune is proudly sewn into her cloak. While in other aspects Feluna may look every bit the typical Eldar it is her face that gives her away as a warlock.

Her long jet black hair is in stark contrast to her pale almost alabaster skin, broken only by the rune of warding tattooed onto her forehead, and her emerald green eyes often glow brightly as she walks the witch path. Like all Eldar she is gifted with the appearance of youth, though as she approaches her 500th year her strength in the witch path has caused her to hold herself in a more regal and responsible way.

Personality: Feluna is a strong willed but kind-hearted sort. As with many of her home craftworld she bears great compassion for nature and will defend it to the end against the corrupt or careless races of the galaxy. Recently her bond mate was lost and she bears his memory heavily, though she is always upbeat and positive in company, when alone she allows herself to feel the loss.

History: In her youth Feluna, walked many paths, she became an artist a musician, and something of a specialist in horticulture. After her first century she was (as all Eldar of the Bein-fae are) required to learn an aspect of war; that one day if needed, she could defend her home. Over the next several centuries she learned much from the different shines of Khaine, though never finding a place she felt was right for her.

Through the constant training and battles with the younger races, Feluna's psychic strength began to develop far beyond her ability as an aspect warrior. Sensing this Feluna was approached by the Craftworlds Farseer's and offered a place among them as a warlock. Quickly mastering the arts of Telekinesis and mind manipulation she became one of the Craftworld's most promising young warlocks and after a time she came to know true peace and purpose in this development as she walked her final path, that of the seer.

Following the distressed transmission from the Dorhai'i, Feluna was called upon to lead a strike time in aid of her Craftworld's distant kin. The threat of Chaos is something Eldar understand all too well, and the Craftworld spared all it could to help with its defeat. Over a hundred living Eldar left Bein-Fae, mounted in sleek and silent wave serpents, supported by deadly fire prisms and the souls of the dead guided by Spiritseer Vol'thranax.

Gear: Wraith bone Spear.

Warlock powers: Advanced Telekinesis, Greater Focus

Good, we have the warlock position filled
Until the main positions are filled everyone eager is welcome.

I also have to remind here for current and future participants to decide-express their opinion on the combat system they prefer for the roleplay.

You will get personal description of your character's situation in every update so the tactics I have seen enforced so far are:

1. Logical Approach- You have to try and adapt to the description provided to proceed with the combat. One post describing the events in a normal scenario(eg you shouldn't be able to perform a teleporting megaslash that will cut 3 planets in pieces).

2. Slide Approach- Your combat will be done in more posts with which you will briefly explain the character's actions and intentions the result of which I will shortly update after so you can continue. Estimated size of this would be 2-4 posts for each player.

3. The above but more direct(my friend suggested it so I do so here)- The same thing as the above happens either with instant messaging or PMs here and once you have the flow of the combat you transfer it in a solid good post.

4. Your idea? Share!

I am a fan of the short and often posts, keeps the momentum strong and plays more like a traditional Rpg

I agree with Kaiden. I think the more frequent posting is the more enthusiasm we'll keep for the rp. Especially with combat, it's nice to have that back and forth because you (the DM) can respond to our actions with surprising tactics or consequences we may not have thought of and vice versa.

It also plays a little more like a traditional rp. My main reason for enjoying that style though is it seems to keep everyone feeling just a little more involved.
