Default A Threat in the Expanse

My humble greetings to fellow servants of the God Emperor,
I've recently been assigned the task of DM-ing a Rouge Trader Campaign. However I have a lore based question.
Have the origins of the Halo Artefacts ever been stated or has it just been left up for readers and players to decide? I ask this because the party has an astropath, and I want to know what he will see when confronted with a Halo monster.

Also if any of you want to know the goings on in the campaign, let me know and I will start posting it the after action reports and mission details.

The Halo Devices are "borrowed" from Chronos, so I recommend watching that if they will have a large part in the campaign.

As far as I know, the origin has not been published; although the Haarlock family had at least one, so there might be something in the Haarlock campaign books.
