Default Daemons? Sure, why not!

I will cut to the chase:

A friend who used to play warhammer has kindly given my his old 40k daemons army. I accepted his offer and recieved them a couple of days ago.

Sadly, they are in less than fantastic condition. My friend could not be described as a avid painter, so consequently the army is painted a bit crap. Here are some pics:

In the army there is:

10 Bloodletters
10 Daemonettes (but these gals are painted so thickly with gold I do not think I will be able to paint them without losing all the detail )
5 Plaguebearers
A Beast of Nurgle
The Masque
3 Flamers of Tzeentch
3 Screamers of Tzeentch
And the legs and right forearm of a bloodthirster ()

And I have to make it into a fantasy army

First up on the painting list is bloodletters- Stay tuned!

You can always paint strip them

submerge in brown dettol + 48 hours + little elbow greese and an old toothbrush= no paint on plastic minis

Add the new battalion and some juggs and you'll have the core to a solid force

Well, all I can say is good luck! If you can turn these models into something good then fair play.

Good luck.

Started painting a bloodletter. I have finally decided on a fairly simple scheme for the skin. I want to make them look definitely khornate, but different. I decided to acheive this by building up from orange. The pics do not show the depth of the skin particularly well. I am sorry for this but take my word that they look a lot better in person:

This is how I have painted it:

1. Undercoat Macharius Solar Orange
2. Lightly drybrush blazing orange (focussing on spots on legs arms and back)
3. Wash watered down Dark Flesh
4. Wash Baal Red

Bear in mind this is not a display army, it is for gaming as part of a pact in storm of magic, so I have not put in the effort that I would paint display miniatures (people may disagree that this is the way my painting should work, but it is not going to change much)

I have started putting them all on square bases. I have also started thinking about how to paint tzeentch...

Hi guys

A bit of an update.

Firstly, I dont think I expressed it before, but this is not going to be a large army. It is mainly for use as a pact in storm of magic and is not going to exceed 1000pts if I can help it.

To highlight on this point, I played a game of SOM today- 2000pts of orcs and a daemonic pact. I fielded 10 bloodletters, a beast of nurgle, and three screamers (I did not use more to get the dawnstar sword in )

The performed particularly well. The screamers are a firm favourite, taking down 4 chaos knights and wounding a manticore. I am growing quite fond of my space sharks!

I have painted quite a lot as well (and switched them all apart from the slaanesh to square bases). I have started on the main of the bloodletters and the base scheme.

I have undercoated and washed the tzeentch as well. Some of the nurgle is started (all undercoated, and 1 plague bearer is painted fully, but I have not decided if I like him yet. I have also washed and highlighted the main colour on the beast) as well.

PICS:

Tzeentch:

Nurgle:

Thoughts?

Hi guys

I have finished the unit of bloodletters and I think they look alright. I have to do the teeth but apart from that they are fine!:

Played 2 games today, with only daemons. First game I took 10 letters, 3 screamers, a herald of nurgle and the beast of nurgle against high elves and ended up winning by taking down his sea guard with a tricksy flank attack and running them down. My second game was against fully savage orc army, with 40 of the buggers and a shammy. I prolonged combat for as long as possible to whittle the unit down (taking around a quarter of the horde out) before charging in. I charged with everything and ended up running them down with the screamers. (in that game I swapped the herald of nurgle for a herald of tzeentch).

I am pondering what goodies to get next. I want to find parts for the thirster, but I might get the dragon/wyvernwings from the gw site as I dont really like the ones on the actual model. another box of bloodletters would not hurt either...

I have made a bit of progress on the sky sharks. I put a couple of highlights and added a secondry colour (purple) to the models. They are looking good so far.

Untill another day!

Hello again people

I have just finished the screamers. I added a few highlights, and the secondary colours and they are looking good. After some bad pics previously I have made the lighting better. The last pic shows the 'army' as it stands:
