Default I'm back! now which end does the paint go on?

So after a good few months I have been lured back and done some painting. I have only just restarted and done very little so be gentle!

My paints are all clagged and I ran out of a few but so far so good. I'm beginning slow with just a marine with a Powerfist and plasma pistol. Im taking my time with this and I have repainted his leg 3 times so far but I am happy with it.

I am staying with my old/current Space marine colour code just to stay in style but I want to spend longer on them get them looking great and based well. I think most of my stuff looses out on the bases so how do you guys go about basing?

Do you just grab the nearest flock and splatter away, or do you plan out the bases buy resin moulds?

Hopefully with here now bookmarked again I'll be motivated to stay on the painting!

Anyways I will stop babbling.
[NOTE: Just the leg is up to finishedish standard ]

Comments and the like are appreciated

Welcome back! Nice work on that SM. TBH, I've never been a fan of half and half paint schemes. That being said, it doesn't mean I can't appreciate a well painted mini. And that, is a well painted mini. Really like the colors you picked.

Thanks fatmantis do you pin every model and why do you do it? Thanks Loki, I haven't used twin colours much its a right piss on

So I have finished painting him I think, not happy with the plasma pistol but for the first in awhile its okay, that being said I still need to paint up the base thats a trapdoor with a genestealer arm holding a severed head! so thats fun

yes i pin every model..the reason being is i like to buil nice bases Or 'THEMED" bases..and it just makes it easier to to the base first then pin the model then paint..well it is for me..
other than that i want the model standing on the ground not sunk into it

This colour scheme rocks! It is vibrant and fun and very refreshing too see. A little tip with your highlighting...

If you thin down the layers a little it will make the model pop more. The highlights are in the right place but would look much better if they were a little thinner (i.e edge highlights) and the blending was a little lighter. I think you could still go up another shade lighter on the edges to really make it stand out

hope this helps.
