Default Knights Templar WIP (Squad, Rhino, Commander)

A hell of a long time ago I told anyone who reads my blog that I was in progress on a Kill-Team for small, fun games with my buddies. They're called the Knights Templar. I currently have 10 Marines (or Knights, to be precise.), a Rhino Transport, and a huge Truescale guy (Force commander in title, GK Termie Grand Master in stats.)

So, onwards to the pics! First up I'm going to post the Truescale. This is a twisted form of Synapse's Truescale marines, as I wanted him to tower over the rest of these guys, but I didn't want him to be TOO big. He's about a head shorter then Synapse's World Eaters, and head and shoulders taller then the now-Hobbit-sized SM.

You have no idea how long it took me to make that halberd.

And Barry is suddenly reduced to the size of a Guard.

He's a smidge taller then a CSM termie, but as the termie would end at the head, not the hunchback, I say he's hella taller.

Back shot showing all the scrolls and a makeshift cape/shroud. I wanted this guy to be pretty holy looking, while still retaining some of the menace that the artwork shows.

I'll post some WIP and painted shots of the finished stuff later.
Cheers!

The chest piece is a cut-down Rhino side door that I bent around a standard SM body. You have to shave down the eagle until the body's from is flat, then take the bent segment and glue it on. The eagle is from the Vehicle spure, with the edges of the wings cut off.

I think the shoulder things you're talking about are those two big plates around his helmet. Those are leftovers from the chest project, and I needed something to fill the gap between chest and bigger chest.

He counts as being armed with a MC Combi-melta. The chainsword on a stick just didn't do it for me.

I was actually thinking of painting him as Custodes, Chaplain colors, or as a Templar. I'm leaning towards Chappie, because I made sure not to put any chapter-specific icons on him. I want to use him for all my Loyalist factions, and if I make him menacing enough, he might make for a good Dark Apostle....well, maybe not with the giant eagle breastplate.

I'll wait a few hours for input on the paint idea. Either way, he's primed and ready to go.

No pic yet, but I've decided to go gold/red after a long and miserable time trying to decide, and I'm quite happy with it. Basically, it's golden plates, metal hardware and joints, white helmet (except for that little crest, which I painted gold, to make him look like he's really strapped into this armor.), and gold/silver weapons. I'm going for Grand Master of the Knights Templar, I think.
