Default The legacy of Dorn

Ok so firstly hai guiz

I have been a tabletop games fan for many years (more than i care to remember) and have been away from painting and playing for about 15 years BUT i have now found my long lost passion (that and getting my son into playing the game now)

So my project is to create a an army the Emperor himself would be proud to call his sons and have chosen a second founding chapter of rightous marines sworn to "suffer not the unclean" and to purge the galaxy of the witch. Thats right BT's.

Please be gentle with me as im fragile and i was not the greatest model painter when i stopped but with age comes understanding (and patience)

The camera i used was not the greatest either and i will endevor to get some better pics up as soon as i have them but for now here is what i have finished.

Part of my command squad with chaplain, sergeant (banner and PS) and heavy plasma.
More to come from these as i have also finished the Apothecary and working on a Marshall

The first of my Sword Brethren Terminator Squad all of which will have Thunder hammers and storm shields.

Legs and heads are from the Grey knights set (because they fit so well with the BT theme) and forge world shoulder pads and shields.

Again not the best pics but ill get better ones up soon.
As soon as i get this termi squad finished im going to be trying my hand at weathering but at the moment i want all units that are underway to be at the same stage and level of painting (to disjointed if i weather some and not others from the same squad so ill go back to them once im more confident.)

All tips and critisism's are welcome and appreciated.

Looking good!!
Only thing....but its my personal opinion....the highlights....to much, they need to be darker. Not a fan of the GW/Tron highlighting, prefer to feather it in more to try and make it look more natural.
Again, looking good and looking forward to seeing more!!

Glory and Hate!

I'm loving where this is going, your scheme looks beautiful and I understand the highlighting issue but I don't believe it takes much away from the models themselves. Have some rep.

So as promised i got some more pics.

Still need to get better pics of the command squad in all their glory but for now here is my Standard and Apothecary plus another Termi i am working on, enjoy.
As you will notice through the various pictures i am trying to add a bit of colour to the theme making it my own, i know the BT's colours are usually pretty somber BUT as in days of old bright colours denote power and wealth (wealth has no bearing on the field of battle) so i decided to throw in some vibrant power colours for weapons.

I am thinking already of what colour scheme to do a techpriest and was either going to go for a dark blue with extreme light blue to white highlights to try and get that glowing armor feel or again revert back to a dark purple (Blues and purples for high standiing people such as kings queens and ofc EMERORS :D) any suggestions would be awesome as i dont want models to be disjointed from each other and not look like they fit in. Maybe go all black tech with contrasting highlight and helmet but who knows more things to finish first just unloading my bran onto here so i have more than one reference so i dont forget (i have a nasty habit of forgetting lots)
C+C welcome and wanted.

Absolutely stunning, I love the idea of different colours for the highlights, I tend to find white to look wrong sometimes. Am I right in remembering BTs revere there weapons hence the chains? That could be another justification for embellishing there tools of war

i think the weapons represent the extension to the might of the body, so lashing it to the arm with chains unifies the weapon and appendage :D but id have to read the fluff again :D

Another almost finished but with kids being ill and stuff not had alot of time.

All good things and all that though so hopefully have another termi finished tonight.
