King Tiger

I have been playing a bit to much CoH and have fallen in love with the King Tiger

So i now want to make a 40k version for Ig (a mix of a basilisk and land raider)
The tiger might of be a fragmented stc, mars got idea and made this vehicle.
New and difficult to make

I was thinking of:

Heavy Support

King Tiger.....300 Points per Model

Front: 14
Side: 14
Rear: 14
BS: 4

Unit Type:
Vehicle (tank)

Wargear:
Twin-linked heavy bolters
Searchlight
Smoke launchers
Extra armour
Tiger Cannon

Special Rules:
Lumbering Behemoth
Tank ace (bs4)
Crack Shot

__________________________________________________ ____________

Tank ace works just like pask, i justified that this rare tank would only ever have tank veterans manning it

tiger cannon is just a earth shaker cannon with 0"-120" instead.
IT DOES NOT FIRE INDIRECT

I was also thinking of some sort of morale special rule but decided to leave it out.

if you wanna make it just like a King Tiger then you forgot the special rules
"extremely unreliable, every time this vehicle starts its to move roll a dice, on a 1 its immobilized and cannot be fixed by a techmarine/priest, this roll may not be modified or re-rolled by anything"
and perhaps
"ungainly weight, this vehicle may never enter any area which is designated as a water feature, if it does it is immediately destroyed as it sinks"
and also
"Diesel eater, every time this vehicle finishes its move roll a dice, on a 1 it is immobilized, this can be fixed by a techmarine/priest this roll may not be modified or re-rolled by anything"
maybe add
"waste of resources, if you take this vehicle you may take no other tanks or transports in your force, as the vehicle guzzles down every bit of fuel from them you can find"

seems accurate now for a king tiger

 maybe just one of those special rules:laugh:

well there all accurate.

and if you fighting Valhallans, the 40k Russians, then it should have
"what a piece of junk, if this unit is fielded against Valhallans all there weapons get +1 to penetration and +1 to damage, as they are unfazed by this over complicated piece of machinery with flimsy armour powered by facist evil, ALL HAIL OUR GLORIOUS MOTHERLAND!!!!!!"

..........or something like that

You seem to have some sort of hate for the poor tiger.

any way i think i will use

extremely unreliable:
every time this vehicle finishes its move roll a dice, on a 1 it is immobilized

and i will give track guards or something for 1 reroll

so not your exact rule but something to add some flavour and balance

nope, just being accurate, if you read up on the King Tiger and not just experience it from a game, you'll see its not that good a tank.......in fact its probably the worst tank Germany ever made from the standpoint of logistics and reliability and cost and all affected numbers of course.

and the russians just thought it was a piece of junk and in there reports told of the ease of taking them out when attacking running gear and rear armour, the british and americans obviously being negative as hell thought they were DOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!

so maybe Praetorians, mordians and cadians (40k's british and yanks) should have a rule where they just run off the board if a King Tiger is deployed

fynn 09-16-09 11:17 AM

lol, unless its british arty unit, then they just blow the crap out of it, my uncle had the pleasure of takeing one out with his trusty 25 pounder during the early months of 1945, and also had fun playing around on the german 88mm gun, and while testing it, got attacked in a sneck raid by a small german tank unit, and took the lot out with the said 88

Redo with Stella's silly rule

Heavy Support

King Tiger.....300 Points per Model

Front: 14
Side: 14
Rear: 14
BS: 4

Unit Type:
Vehicle (tank)

Wargear:
Twin-linked heavy bolters
Searchlight
Smoke launchers
Extra armour
Track Guards
Tiger Cannon

Special Rules:
Lumbering Behemoth
Tank ace (bs4)
Crack Shot
Extremely unreliable

Because of its experimental nature the king tiger still has some faults, with bits falling off and the tracks always breaking

Extremely unreliable:
every time this vehicle finishes its move roll a dice, on a 1 it is immobilized this can be rerolled because of Track Guards

Track Guards:
Give the tiger a reroll for terrain tests and for Extremely unreliable

happy, is there anything else i should add or change?

Stella Cadente 09-16-09 08:20 PM

don't remember mentioning any silly rules, you wanted a King Tiger, I gave ideas for rules based off historical facts, not what some little game might give an impression of

don't see how a track guard to stop shells hitting the tracks, is gonna stop the tracks and wheels seizing up or breaking off, or how its stopping the suspension getting buggered up from inside.

also we already had rules for track guards, the rules you have are from dozer blades, very different things, track guards gave a 4+ save to immobilized results I think

also I think the side and lower armour should be lowered, 14, 13, 12 would do I think, 14 all round should only be reserved for Land raiders and monoliths, even a Kings armour was lower on the sides and rear, otherwise this tank is gonna be better armoured than a baneblade.

according to the vehicle design rules that should make the cost around 220pts then, maybe 240 with light, launchers and track guards 250 with lumbering behemoth

FuzzyRabbit 09-17-09 05:15 AM

Stella Cadente is right on with everything said about the king tiger. In addition to everything that has been done, dropping the rear AV is a must and possibly the sides. The allies killed german tanks but flanking and getting shots at the rear armour. Good idea though
