Ugh. Clowns.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (they turn you into cotton candy and drink you with crazy swirly straws!!)

Ha, crazy swirly straws!

Speaking of off the wall films that are fun, look up Hot Rod Girls Save The World

I'm not a horror fan. And i am definitely not a fan of do called torture porn like SAW or Hostel.

It also depends on what you mean by "horror." There's quite a bit that's mostly about "body horror" and gore which I'm not at all interested in.

Cube isn't a horror movie. It's a parable about Christian faith. And some of it is bloody but not scary.

Anyway, Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2. After that they really deteriorated. The novella it's based on is also really bizarre and dark. Think summoning heralds of Slaanesh, from before such a thing was devised in warhammer.

The Exorcist is still one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen.

Army of darkness is pretty awesome. Campy and funny.

I despised event horizon. It was supposed to be a scary "solaris" and it made little internal sense. And the design of sets and ships while spooky, made zero sense.

I don't care for Horror films to be honest, I've never watched the Freddie, Jason, Halloween and all that. I just don't see how they can be scary because it's my understanding that they are more slash flicks than anything. I think horror films, well the bulk of the ones I've watched that have been billed as 'scary', just aren't and they come off as cheap and samey.

I'm going to see Crimson Peak on Friday, I know I won't be scared I'm just hoping to see a good film.

What horror films I think are good aren't scary they are just good films if that makes sense, I've watched a decent number of horror films and the ones I enjoyed, I enjoyed because I found them interesting, they didn't go for cheap thrills, killings just isn't scary anymore, people are largely desensitised to it and showing blood isn't scary. Films that rely on them just can't be scary to modern movie goers anymore, but doesn't mean you can't tell a good story.

Of course you were underwhelmed by the Babadook. It's a shit film by the standard of any genre, apparently designed to scare 4 year olds. But feel free to write off a whole genre off the back of one bad film. It's like saying Star Wars must be shit because Space Truckers was shit.

Check out Pandorum then. Way better movie in my books, though I've never been so bored during a movie that I've been picking apart set designs. I'd hit stop well before that point :shok:

Unless of course we're talking about being able to see the top of the set like in some running scenes in the Evil Dead (or pretty much any b-movie really)....'cuz that's some hilarity right there.

What? Where the hell did this come from?

This thread just seems rather pointless. You're asking for recommendations for horror movies, a genre you seem to have written off already, while at the same time admitting you'll probably never watch them. What's the point of that?

So, your angst boils down to "I don't like what you've posted and decided that this is my new axe to grind."
Ok.
