Counter-Offensive (Imperial Guard)

Introduction

Kulth, the Ork ridden War-World of the Calixis Sector, has been locked in a power struggle between the Orks and the Imperium for the past eighty-three years, and the Vostroyan Firstborn 55th Regiment has been stationed there all the while, fighting the greenskins in the name of the Emperor.

The Orks have, seemingly randomly, have orchestrated an extremely aggressive push into Imperium territory. Needing backup, the Vostroyan Firstborn 241st Regiment, known for it's Ad-Hoc composition and organization, as well as the "Rough and Tumble" nature of some of it's recruits as opposed to the rest of the Firstborn, has been sent to reinforce the lines that the 55th has been holding.

Player Roles/Information to keep in mind

The players will be roleplaying a 5-man Veteran Sqaud from the Vostroyan Firstborn 241st Regiment. Your objectives will be made clear to you, but may change or diverge from the original path of the story depending on player choices, in order to keep the story flexible and make sure the players exert a realistic level of control over their plight.

Character Creation

The squad will be composed of 5 players, each filling one role within the squad. These roles will be decided upon on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The roles are as follows:

(Aside from wargear listed, all soldiers will be armed with (unless otherwise stated): x1 Laspistol, x2 Krak Grenades, x2 Frag Grenades, x1 Entrenching Tool, x1 Bayonet/Combat Knife, x1 Medi-Kit)
(*: An asterisk denotes that you must choose one of multiple gear choices. **: A double asterisk denotes this character does not carry the standard Laspistol.)

Sergeant** - *ROLE FILLED* - Maximinus Bullert
Wargear: x1 Lasgun/Chainsword/Powerfist*, x1 Plasma/Bolt Pistol*, x1 Vox-Caster

Demolition Specialist - *ROLE FILLED* - Alexander Valentine
Wargear: x1 Meltagun/Plasmagun*, x2 Melta Bombs (Demolitions Expert gains access to one extra of each grenade)

Medic** - *ROLE FILLED* - Alex Voskinov
Wargear: x1 Lasgun, x1 Diagnosticator (Diagnoses injury and disease), x1 Injector (injects all manner of medicines and combat drugs), x1 Medi-Pack (A much more potent Medi-kit, with a much vaster selection and quantity of medical tools/medicines/pain-killers/combat drugs)

Guardsman Specialist - *ROLE FILLED* - Harmon Colivan
Wargear: x1 Hotshot Lasgun, x1 Detachable 4-times Zoom Scope

Guardsman Specialist CQB - *ROLE FILLED* - Mikhail Gorski
Wargear: x1 Lasgun/Shotgun*, x2 Satchel Charges

!Remember when choosing Wargear, they will need to be portrayed as accurate to the lore of the 4ok universe. Powerfists are slow. Shotguns are not effective at long range. Plasma weapons are unstable and get hot. This will be taken into account during combat.!

Did you hoist the Standard of your Company high as you charged into battle against the Tyranids? Were you pulled from the worst of the worst of Vostroyan prisoners, and brutally fought your way up? Let us know who your character is as a soldier.
Squad Role: Are you a Sergeant, Medic, Demolitions, or Specialist Guardsman? (Remember, first-come, first-serve)
Preferred/Most Hated Enemy: Which Xenos do you feel best putting rounds into? For which enemy does the battle become personal, instead of your duty?

Thank you very much for any and all replies!

How's this? Any comments or changes I should make?

Name: Harmon Colivan

Age: 29

Appearance: A slim built man Harmon sports short black but messy hair and a clean shaven face. His skin is fair but tanned from the amount of time he spends outdoors. His hands are callused and scarred from weapon drills and a long jagged scar across his arm is a memento of his last campaign with the Eldar. He is only 5'11” tall.

His face is dominated by his clear hawkish eyes and a mouth that is always just sitting in a grin. Harmon isn't the kind of man to groom a moustache like most Vostroyans do, but can be seen with some hard stubble every now and then. He usually carries around an old Chrono as a memento of his family back home. It is lovingly crafted from bronze and embellished with the imperial eagle.

His standard guardsman kit is kept clean and presentable most of the time. He however has dulled the shine to reduce visibility, daubing black boot wax on most of the polished surfaces. The kit however is more or less new with the older damaged pieces being replaced by the munitorium.

Bio: Harmon Colivan is the first son of the Colivan family, a humble group of merchants making their living selling furniture. Being the first son of the family Harmon was obliged to go and fight for the Emperor. His primary goal however is to survive and hopefully make it back home in one piece. He has no aspirations for command or extended service and is just waiting for the chance to be honourably discharged after some valiant action when the time comes.

Having originally served with the 88th Vostroyan he gained his marksman’s ribbons after killing an Ork nob with a well placed shot to the head. His regiment however fell afoul of the Eldar during its' last tenure of duty on the forest world of Sentrax. Their regiment tracked the Xenos past empty villages and smouldering tank columns to a small town. A vicious firefight erupted there which turned into a slow but bloody rout lasting almost 2 weeks.

Rangers perched within alcoves and crouching almost invisibly within the smoke picked them apart while guardians and aspect warriors skilfully wiped out isolated pockets of resistance. Harmon felt cold anger as they were forced to leave behind comrades unavenged and will always remember the bitter taste of defeat the Eldar served to them. The scar he bears on his arm was from a close miss from a rangers long rifle. The sniper duel between them was frantic and desperate. Harmon only managing to survive by just being a hair faster, or perhaps the Emperor truly was watching over him that day.

A bureaucratic oversight however had Harmon transferred after his regiment was dissolved instead of being discharged. The departmento munitorium notified Harmon that his years of service to the Emperor was unfortunately not recorded properly but the proceeding years from that point will now count as official. His new regiment the 241st Vostroyan looks promising and hopefully by the Emperor's grace keep him alive to make it home.

Squad Role: Guardsman Specialist
Wargear: x1 Hotshot Lasgun, x1 Detachable 4-times Zoom Scope

Preferred/Most Hated Enemy: Harmon essentially find the Orks the easiest Xeno race to deal with, respecting their tenacity and brute force, however he has a special place of hate in his heart for the Eldar, particularly their rangers.

Everything looks fine! Just remember that your character is also equipped with all of the 'defaut' equipment, along with your role specific wargear.

there we go edited and fixed

Name: Maximinus Bullert
Gender: Male
Age: somewhere between 25 and 30 he doesn't really know he's been in battle for so long he's forgot and actually he doesn't care, anymore at least.

Appearance: 5 o'clock shadow beard, Fairly strong build, has a lot of scars a few on his face and the rest covers his body, 5'10 foot tall, short black hair and has a tall and strong looking build and he is also missing his right eye.just imagine his right eye is an optic eye and his hair is a little longer.

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/i...FMZKqLqVaic8gy

Squad Role: Sergeant
Wargear: over the years Maximinus collected specific weapons mainly because they helped him get out of tough situations, his Bolt pistol hanging on his left hip strapped in a leather holster, his Chainsword is strapped to his other hip in a black Sheath and finally His Vox-Caster Maximinus went to the best engineer he knew and asked him to linked it with his optic eye so it doesn't slow him down and so he doesn't have wear a big, bulky helmet.

Personality: A disciplined and ruthless man, Maximinus despises any other cowardly or disobedient man. He also has a habit of beating the crap out of said cravens immediately and on his own judgement and no one else's, in battle he's an expert strategist and being such he's Resourceful and Creative in in his plans.

Bio: Much of Maximinus's past is unknown even to him, he was born on the planet Vostroya which was in the service of the Emperor to give them their eldest and firstborns, when he was old enough he started his training he was taught to use everything even himself as a weapon if need be, when he was accepted he asked to be instantly sent into the field his peers, the elders and his trainer were impressed by his thirsting bloodlust to slay orks and his need to serve The Emperor.

having started his tour of duty as a Private [or a Cadet?] in the the Vostroyan Firstborn 13th Regiment, He received his current position in the wake of a particularly bad landing during the first phases of a brief suppression campaign against anti-Imperial insurrectionists on Modred. While en route to their dropzone, Bullert's unit came under fire from hidden anti-air batteries. In the resulting confusion, several platoons were misdropped or forced to bail out of their transports, leaving the survivors scattered across roughly forty kilometers of the Modred highlands.

In the absence of orders, Maximinus took charge of the handful of survivors he could find and set out hunting for the batteries while they moved up through a few insurrectionists decided to ambush them and sadly though they were quickly killed it was not before one of them took Maximinus's right eye, the medics couldn't save it in time so someone who could make an optic eye for him, he went through much pain before and after it was inserted.

Given his success in that and the subsequent campaign, regimental command chose to make his de facto role official during the reconstruction as his commanding officers had been killed by one of the anti-air batteries, two years later he was transferred to the Vostroyan Firstborn 241st Regiment and was given the rank of Sergeant, his exact words were "this should be interesting".

Preferred/Most Hated Enemy: Maximinus has a passion for killing Orks mainly because of two reasons, one they're very stupid cause they just run at him into hails of bullets though they do keep surprising him with stuff like their guns shouldn't fire bullets and yet they did and two is they're really easy to kill, they're a little harder to kill when they're in a horde and can actually overwhelm squads and units. The most hated enemy has to be the anti-Imperial insurrectionists he fought against on Modred as....you know they took his eye.

having started his tour of duty as a Cadian Shock Trooper.
If this was any other Regiment than the 241st of the Vostroyan Firstborn, this wouldn't work. But because the regiment is so thrown together it will be interesting to see a Cadian transplant lead a Vostroyan regiment.

Quote:

the boltgun has a sling so he can just hang it under his right arm
You're carrying a chainsword, which serves as your primary weapon. And the boltgun wasn't an option for sergeant equipment anyways. So remove this please?

It's been awhile since I've been taking part in the RPG's, and I do have a thing for Astra Militarum (what a cheap name: Go Guardsmen!!). Anyway I got time, so tell me what you think :)

Also could I possibly interest you in allowing me to change him to a Heacy gunner, the Squads "Automatic Weapons Expert" as we call them in the Army?

Character Sheet:

Name: Alexander Valentine

Age: 29

Appearance:

Valentine is a 5'11" Male who has a strong build and long legs that give him unusual speed and power. He has Black hair, curly mustache that ends right before the lips, and sports enough chest hair to rival his fellow Vostroyan. He bears a scar above and to the right of his Left Eye. His voice bass low he tends to project and is not know for being quiet.

Bio: Alexander Valentine was born just like many Firstborn on Vostroya; into a military family who then gave him up to be trained for service in the Astra Militarum. What few people know is that from a young age Alexander displayed a natural knack for dealing with explosives and pyrotechnics. His Academy trainers found this to be both a talent and a curse as more than once he was found messing around with the Schola's supply of training ammunition to create more improved versions of Frags, Kraks, and Satchels.

When he was old enough he was assigned to a Unit fighting Orks on the Eastern Front. From here Alexander learned how to use his talents with EOD and IED to maximine effect. Whether ir was disabling traps to keep his brothers from harm, or setting cunning ambushes to trigger entire hab units to crush the Xeno's Alexander was there. Eventually he was promoted to Corporal and give a small detachement of 4 men under his command to specialize in handling explosives. However when preparing an ambush one day he accidently triggered it to early, and ended up killing a unit of Guardsmen; including the son of a very prominent Colonel. For his actions he was sentenced t join a Penal unit, but was saved at the last minute by intervention from his fellow soldiers.

Alexander was forced to cut his beard, a sign of his masculinity, and made to join the 241st Vostroyan Regiment; know for it's less-than-Codex tactics and approaches to the battlefield. However what was to be his doom turned into his saving grace, and suddenly Alexander finds himself attached to a Veteran Squad that is being assigned a very dangerus; possibly suicidal, mission to the front to support fellow Vostroyan Firstborn.

Preferred/Most Hated Enemy:
"I hate Orks more than anything in this universe. Their monstrosity is a spawn of the Warp itself, and they must all be burned and cleansed from the face of every planet they make fall upon. I hate Orks, and I shall kill them all." - Valentine to a Sargent who was later found dead.

Gear: x1 Laspistol, x3 Krak Grenades, x3 Frag Grenades, x1 Entrenching Tool, x1 Combat Knife, x1 Medi-Kit, x1 Meltagun, x2 Melta Bombs

ZtheGreat 05-18-14 05:56 AM

I'm sorry, but you need to scrap most of your character. Vostroyan's recruit Firstborn sons. The character doesn't fit in with regimental lore. Sorry.

I'm guessing from your character bio that you wanted to be Demolitions but carry an automatic weapon?

Other way around, I was curious if you could swap Demolition for Heavy Weapons specialist. Basically the Machine Gunner of the group (Heavy Bolter?).

A vostroyan gone mad? Not a possible thing? That is ok I can scrap if you like. My shifts almost over so give me till later tonight and I'll get that done for you.

I was just saying a female wasn't possible, because the Vostroyans don't have any in their regimental composition. I was considering a heavy bolter but it is a two man weapon system and I didn't want to drag a player along to be "the guy who helps carry heavy stuff and feeds ammunition"

@ TheWarCaptain, could you change your bio slightly to be a Vostroyan born and raised soldier? Now that I'm thinking about it, it doesn't seem right for a Cadian to lead a Vostroyan vet squad
