Starship Troopers 3

has anyone seen starship troopers 3. it was terrible. i had such high hopes after the first two (yes...i liked the second one) and it sucked:angry:. it was probably because of budget though. you could tell it was a cheap movie.

what did you think?

Marcus Antonius Primus 08-02-08 11:38 AM

I didn't even know there was a ST3...

neither did I. Must see it!!

I found out about it earlier this year.

After the shitstorm that was the first, you couldn't pay me to see the other two.

I read the book for a college course last semester, and it's soooo much better than the movie. Honestly, I thought the first movie was complete, utter crap. It only barely followed the storyline and managed to lose nearly all of the political and social commentary that made the book anything more than another sci-fi action piece. Propaganda though it was, I found the book infinitely more interesting than the movie.

Darth Malus 08-02-08 03:11 PM

The movie couldn't even really call itself Starship troopers. The only thing that was the same was the characters, and the fudged that all up too. I loved the book, and when I watch the movie, I try to not think about the book.

Druchii in Space 08-02-08 03:25 PM

Tbh the only reason Starship Troopers rates so highly with me is because of the action scenes being the closest thing to Imperial Guard vs Nids movie wise. The back story and such has never been a big draw, I'll probably see the 3rd one, but from the online trailer, it looks poor.

i wouldnt reccomend the third one...i lost a few hours of my life that i want back

the action in number one was pretty awesome

Captain Galus 08-04-08 04:23 AM

the first movie, if you judge it by Heinlen's book, reached a level on the scale that can only be scientifically referred to as:

Totally Sucking Ass.

But the action scenes were pretty well done, IMHO. if you took out all the non-war scenes in the movie, i think it could have been pretty good!
lol

PieMan 08-04-08 10:03 AM

i haven't read the books so i don't know what they are like

Farseer Beltiac 08-04-08 10:43 AM

They've made a third one? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Wilder 08-04-08 10:54 AM

Shame, I was hoping the third would redeem the first two.:(

Angel of Retribution 08-04-08 02:44 PM

The book bored the crp out of me, i couldn't finish it for the longest time. But i liked the first movie, it wasn't perfect, but it was pretty decent. The second one truly sucked and i don't have high hopes for the third, but since i watched the other two, i'll have to watch this one...

PieMan 08-06-08 09:57 AM

i liked the first one but i dont get what was so bad about the second one. i liked it

to anyone who wants to watch the third one:DON'T

I like all Paul Verhoeven movies. His quirky little adverts are awesome.

Remember the nuke board game in robocop?

same hear. I want a 40k movie.

Morgal 08-06-08 09:04 PM

The book was awsome....
I have no idea how one could call the movie and the book related.
It's like jerrasic park inspiring the land before time...

EndangeredHuman 08-06-08 10:14 PM

:shok:

Those.. animations...:ireful2:

Man, that film looks like it's either a) Mostly set in a single trench during day or night. b) using rehashed scenes of things blowing up from the first film or c) trying to make us laugh at the low budget props and over-polished actors.

:puke:

Col. Schafer 08-09-08 04:23 AM

The first movie was ah... morbidly funny? The second was lame except for the line
"Hurry up and grow we need more meat for the grinder!" (or something to that effect)

We need a "bill the galactic hero" movie.

chromedog 11-05-08 10:38 AM

I'll second that call.

Trooper Bil, reporting for duty, you bowb-head! I'd salute, but I can't get the other arm working right.

I had the nickname in highschool. I read SF (there were a few of us) and a bunch of us had read Bill. Harry Harrison is still one of my favourite writers.

ST3 is dire, but the marauder suits are almost cool.
I got a copy as a birthday present (but i got 'plan 9 from outer space' from the same guy last year, so things are improving. I'm expecting Star Trek:Nemesis next year.)

That's an epic friend you have there, I have to say it.

chromedog 11-06-08 10:02 PM

Oh he's a cool friend (and a professional SFX guy and modelmaker) he just has some very questionable taste in movies. I've received quite a few cool birthday presents off him, though, over the years, so I'm happy to overlook the occasional duds (He made me a fibreglass boba-fett helmet for a present over 15 years ago which I still have).
