I ran out of meltaguns - Tau stepped in and helped.

First time kitbashing/cutting up stuff. Nothing major, I really just had to rotate the wrist, and shave a bit off of the fusion blaster (?) to get it to fit. Ignore the crappy painting job, I did this with one of my older minis (didnt want to ruin a good one). Thoughts?

Heresy.

its a good idea, but it doesnt fit....or maybe its just the paint job. the gun draws to much away from the model. may be if you shaved it down and added some bolter parts or even try and shoulder mount it it may look better.

fluff wise a space marine would fire a xenos weapons lol.

I might go back and repaint it something like purple if its too flashy. I dont want to modify the gun though cause I'm imagining he picked it up in midst of battle, rather than trying to make a tau weapon look space marine-esque. So adding bolter parts or a shoulder strap would detract from what I'm aiming for

If you have seen the movie district 9, i imagine picking up a tau weapon would be like that.

I do beleive that space marines dont use xenos weapons, but way back in rouge trade im sure they could run around with eldar weapons etc, so it may work.

however i think the fusion blaster is a tad far too large to be man portable, looks more like a multimelta in comparison.

I like it. A little battlefield scavenging is sometimes called for in times of need.

however, if you need more Meltas made, I might humbly suggest My Tutorial on converting one of the dozens of spare flamers you probably have into a nice convincing looking melta.

I assume you were intending it to be a plasma gun rather than actually a stolen Tau weapon, in which case:

It does not look too unlike a plasma gun; however I feel it would look more like if you trimmed off one muzzle to make it a single barrelled weapon. I also suggest drilling out the barrel.

It doesn't look too far removed from the meltagun aesthetic to not be a personalised item or alternative pattern of STC. I like it, adds a bit of flavour and individuality!

I don't think the edges of the weapon are rounded enough (unless you want it to be slightly xenos) but from what I've read in current fluff a SM would NEVER touch a xenos weapon. Although in Rogue Trader days SMs could have Eldar weapons but I'm not sure which ones, but then in those days Demons in WHFB could have Boltguns so....
