I'll second that. I use a squad of Catachans as my Necromunda gang, so it is essentially free (I had them already) and the same scenery.

The plus side is it gets you making lots more scenery (since games are better with loads of small things to hide behind), is quick and in campaign mode allows you to have an evolving gang.

The downside is that the campaign really needs at least 4 regular players otherwise it gets stale very quickly.

Maybe we could write and release a pdf of updated necro rules that tie in with 5th edition?

That's not a bad idea, though the Necromunda players over at Specialist Games on the GW site are pretty good at writing rules up so they may be already doing an update?

I'm about 98% finished on a conversion of Mordheim to 40K.
I've finished all the rules and layout except for a few extra forces(warbands) and the doubles/triples/quadruples exploration bonus chart. It is completely playable now and I could use play testers. I have it in MS Works as I don't have Acrobat or a solid PDF maker. I'd love to post it here if anyone wanted to see it or playtest.

Flames of War, excellent game that makes me go "why can't 40k be like this?"

I dropped about 100 dollars on a Warmachine Menoth army at GenCon last year, and that was just about the biggest mistake I could have made. My friends and I all bought armies, and then, aside from 2 or 3 of us, stopped playing once school started again. My half assembled army now sits on my shelf, taunting me everytime I look at it.

I've begun messing with A&A: War at Sea, an historical war-game based around the naval conflicts of WWII. I didn't really care for the paper maps released with the game so I went ahead and dubbed my hobby center table as 'Ye Ol' Pacific' and here ya go:

i play necromunda a fair bit, done a bit of path to glory, while i know these are GW related i still think theyre awesome.

battle tech is amazing, got nigh on 2000 ton of mechs and it is well fun

campaign rules in it are awesome !!

also Flames of war is wicked too got a eastern front german army, and a desert rat and an american army, combat system is wicked , its a well thought out game and not half as expensive lol

also tried to do many of my own futuristic combat games, small scale, 5-10 models all working independently with separate movement

anyways that my 2 pence worth

I tried warmachine and didn't really get into it that much. It is br00tal, and works very well but just doesn't really DO IT for me.

I do play Flames of War, and LOVE IT. I have always been interested in WWII, and this is a fun WWII game. Unlike some of the more abstract/realistic simulation-games that I really can't get into and have loads of fun with.

Another game I'd like to play is Border Reivers, Scottish families stealing cattle from each other and shooting with blunderbusses at each other sounds like a lot of fun any day of the week

Thus far, War at Sea is a blast. I'm planning on giving AAM (the ground pounding version) a serious shot after getting firmly established with WaS.
