Default Favourite Non-GW Systems?

This is a simialure style thread to 'Worthy Non-GW Systems'.

Basically, what is YOUR favourite Non-GW System?

Personally, out of all of those I've played, Arena Deathmatch is one of my favourites.

I've chosen this due to the fact that it's a completely different style of gaming compared to a fair few other Systems. The gameplay is different and a lot more realistic in my opinion and the game in general is very fun to play. There are tonnes of other fantastic games out there though!

Piquet - It's by far the best system i've played and their the rules we use 90% of the time. No two games are the same (even if you use the exact same armies and terrain set-up.)

Piquet covers all periods from Ancients to Modern War and almost everything in between.

5th Edition results:

EMPERORS CHILDREN: W:23 L:6 D:3 (On Hiatus)
Iron Warriors: W:7 L:0 D:0
NECRONS: W:12 L:8 D:1

Disposable heroes and coffin for seven brothers.

greatest gaming system ever, realistic, fun and a far far better WWII system than Flames or Warhammer 40k

I am a big fan of Hordes and Warmachine. I like the skirmish feel to the games and all of the really interesting combos you can build. Plus the fluff is really cool imho.

I have been starting to get into Warmachine. Nice, tight rules, easy to pick up while not being drastically different from 40K. So far I am digging it but I only have 3 or 4 games under my belt.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Babylon 5 A call to Arms is my main space fleet game, also really liked Battletech once upon a time, but not for a long while.

Like the look of AT 43 but doubt I'd ever get it as its like having a 2nd 40K and I don't play 40K enough as it is.
Tried Confrontation which was a nice system, not so sure now with the recent change, but dropped out of that to come back to Warhammer anyway.

Apart from Skirmish games I'm only willing to run one Sci-fi and one fantasy based army Wargame, haven't the room or cash for more.

Come and join us by the fire, to chat about the games that matter to you at the Roleplay Games Forum
