No Quarter is the only non GW game i've ever played, and its awesome, you can create your army, its fantasy, and its a free download! You can even get a science fiction version, No Limits.

I've been encouraging everyone I play with to try out StarGrunts II. As for realistic and enjoyable games, that's the rules set I use. My biggest quibble is their hand to hand combat rules, they seem kind of tacked on, but easily overcome.

I've played a few games with that system using 40k Armies and I have to say, by far, those games were more enjoyable, more interactive, and far more realistic.

I'd say Confrontation is my favourite after Warhammer. I also like Stalag Luft too.

I played a demo game of Helldorado at Salute '08 and was very impressed by it. The rules are great for a small skirmish games and the models are excellent. Still waiting for a translations of the Demons cards which is really hampering me playing it properly.

So far, I'm only just getting into D&D(like got the DM guide last week kinda starting), but I'm looking into Anima, Warmachines, Hordes and Dark Age, which all(barring Dark Age) have minis that could be used in D&D with little hassle(something I'm glad about, the Wizards pre-paints are icky lol)

Star Fleet Battles is probably my favourite game. Warzone is my my preference for 28mm.

Marine: I think we should expand our range of personal expression.

Second Marine: Really? Why?

Marine: I just think we should feel something besides prayerful conviction, and anger...
