I'm not an Ork player, but I know that that wouldn't be enough to have much chance of winning as Orks. My buddies list has 3 squads of 29 boyz in a 1k list xD

I recommend getting a few more boyz, and some Dreads or Kans.

Good luck though mate!

with that many boys you can't have many vehicles though right? he must be missing the 6 helos, or lootas...or trukk...gotta be missing something with that many, and not passing 1k :O

Bare bones straight up you have 880, How are these units equipped, becaue that can chage the point total. You could get an 1K list but it will be hard to be competative. before buying any more I would:
I would tak a long look at the codex and figure out just what you want to do with your army as well as how you normally play.
Then I would do a seach in the Ork armylist for Blood Axes and look at all the list there, plus some of the others for diversity.
Last build a few different lists on paper for 1K and 1.5K then playtest with a friend using "proxy" models you don't own.
This will save you money in the long run, help you build an army you like and be fluffy as well.

hmm, is that 1k including the lootas and trukk? because i just looked at the "read this first" book from aobr, and it says the ork force included is 450 pts, so it should be 900 for both, not including the lootas or trukk, right? ><

but yeah, i'll start reading the heck out of my codex. thanks for that tip :D

That's because those characters have specific gear. The boss has a PK and twin shoota, the boyz have big shootas and the defkoptas have twin-rokkits. So that can raise the points up, plain trucks and lootas would bring you a little over 1k.
Word of waring orks can becaome addictive, I still collect and I constantly change my army up for play, because they have so many awesome and interesting units.

haah i know what you mean having only painted 1 kopta and 9 boyz, i'm already trying to ebay another 20 of them to bring up my numbers to 55 boyz. (looks like 20 will be 20 bucks)
i liked painting my first 2 guys...and after that, this is awful hahaha, it's so repetitive, but at least it's not a boring color scheme, i like the green :D the camo gets tiring to paint though..

20 for 20 is a terrible deal. To switch it up on the painting add little details on each individual ork. A simple tattoo on the arm, paint on the face, kill tallies on the weapon, or whatever. Its extra work but helps make your boyz more unique and adds a personal touch.

Ork boyz are swarms, stick 'em in biiiiig units and forget transports for them. Hordes of Orks over 10 get Mob rule, meaning they're fearless meaning that big units are fearless and almost unbeatable by most squads in CQC.

Alternately you could do a Kan wall.

When painting Orks, try doing different skin tones. For example Desert Yellow then BAdab Black wash makes the skin Orky, but not that dull dark green everyone uses. Pretty sure this tutorial will help with the anti-repetitiveness:
