New to O&G
Hello Heresy! As many of you know, I play Wood Elves in warhammer fantasy, and I do fairly well. Unfortunately, however, I play them much more competitively than most of my opponents do, and so end up with games that are little fun for either playing. As I do not wish to learn to play worse with Wood Elves, I have decided to start an Orcs and Goblins army for fun pickup games. I would like to be reasonably competitive, but not overly so. I picked up two lots on eBay with the following contents.
Lot 1 was the O&G side of Battle of Skull Pass, which includes 40 night goblins with spears, 20 with bows, 10 spider riders, a mage, a boss, a troll, and some terrain.
Lot 2 contained a Warboss on a boar, an orc BSB, a giant, a spider-riding goblin boss, 20 Boyz, 35 Black Orcs, and a snotling pump wagon.
In addition, I have 40 boyz and 20 Nobz from 40k that I can use on those nifty fantasy trays with 40k-sized holes for bases. I have other 40k stuff as well, but nothing useful.
I was thinking the following for a starting 2,000 point list.
Warboss (of some kind) on a boar
lv4 (night?) gobbo Shaman
BSB with the shrunken head (or if he can't take it, the shaman will)
40 Savage Orc Big 'Uns with EHW Big Stabbas
2x20 Boyz with EHW
40 Night Goblins with Spears
20 Night Goblins with Short Bows
10 Spider Riders
35 Black Orcs with Shields
A couple of questions. What type of orc should the characters be? And is the shaman better as a goblin or night goblin? What command should everything have? Is a warboss on a boar worth it? Or should I use something else? Should I proxy my goblin boss person as another shaman? And, more generally, did I pick the right units to include?
If you go down to the woods today, be wary
