Default What will you remeber labour for?

in 20 yrs or so when your children/grandchildren/great grandchildren ask you "what do you remember the labour goverment of '97-'10 for?" what will you say

War in the Middle East?
Saving investors money when the reccession struck?
Tax Credits?

I was going to do this as a poll, but i cannot find any E-Sources praising labours reign. Funnily enough now that he's gopne they're all rather critical and are sticking the boot in. So since i can't find (m)any positives about labours 13 years providing a poll of negatives would be unfair.

So just list down what you'll remember, and why you'll remember it.

Myself i'll remeber the good they did by providing tax credits (even if it does now get abused by benefit thieves)

And i'll remember all the lying, which seemed to me to be more then any other party i can remember.

Quisnam praesumo, successio

Tuition fees. Thanks to Labour I'll have £10,000 worth of debt when I leave university this summer. And they said they wanted to make education a priority - funny way of going about it, making university only accessible to the well-off.

Stone Temple Library - Archive of my Vandemarr fiction.

‘Do you think they know we’re watching?’ August asked, focusing his eye back through his lasgun’s telescopic sight. From their vantage point on the sixth storey of one of Gortlémund’s trading hubs, they watched as a bulky Tau sweeper unit cleared the worst of the snow from the cratered roads below with heat blasters. Behind it, a few fire warriors warily eyed the thousands of overlooking windows.
Vandemarr didn’t move. ‘Probably.’

Not giving us a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, despite a promise of a referendum on any EU related constitution.

The invasion of Iraq in 2003 also springs to mind.

Although your average Tom, Dick and Harry haven't the foggiest about what the Lisbon Treaty would entail (apart from what the media hype told them). I've read it (as part of my law degree), and it really isn't that bad. Although I am very pro-EU, so I'll be the first to admit my opinion is biased.

Saving the NHS from total melt down and removing the months and months of waiting just to see a doctor in out patients.

There are many things new labour got wrong and the money could of been spent better (not the amount but how much has been wasted). That being said they were trying to recover from the austere times of conservative rule which really did knacker most public institutions.

I personally am very hopeful that labour will cut away the destructive brownite/blairite rubbish that caused most of the issues at the end of Blair's permiership.

Your toast has been burnt and no amount of scraping will get rid of the black bits.

What I'll remember

War in Iraq and my parents anger over not being given a referendum over it

My misguided fury about the raise of supermarkets selling booze to under 25's, only to discover, phew if you have ID you can still get wasted on the cheap

Gordon Brown being an unelected prime minister

Best of all though the expenses scandal, I laughed alot about that

kudos to lillian thorne for the awesome sig
