he really was a genius, no doubt about it. Without him we would not have a lot of the things we take for granted nowadays. I do hae to admit though, that some of his ideas were a bit, lets just say, unusual.

Sretan rodendan Nikola Tesla!

yeah, shooting down warplanes with electric bolts, just to name one. but hey, he found some military crazyheads who actually started to support this weird idea. i just wonder, why a man of his intellect couldn't see the impossibilty of it.. well i guess sometimes we all turn blind and deaf to reasoning when we get obsessed with something..
in most other aspects he was a real pioneer. may he be remembered with due respect.

edit: nearly forgot, when the greatest rock band in creation hounours you by taking it's name from one of your inventions.. dude, then you are to be respected

One of my best friends is working on his PhD in physics, we've talked at length on many of his wackier ideas, most of his ideas are plausible and there is no reason they shouldn't work, but implementations of them are as unrealistic as us getting SM power armor in the next five years. Awesome guy though.

Hmm, I learnt that it was Nikola Tesla's birthday because of the google image Yes, Tesla was a genius. Gentlemen, I present to you the Tesla Coil. Welcome to over 110dB of raw midi power!

The Tesla coils stand 7 feet tall and are each capable of putting out over 12 foot of spark. They are spaced about 18 feet apart. Each coil is assigned to a midi channel which it responds to by playing notes that are programed into the computer software.

There is a guy who made a tesla coil and uses it instead of an amp for his electric guitar, wicked lightning bolts (at makezine.com) I don't know exactly what the link is, I saw it on makeTV(same website). found the link:

Tesla was just 100 years ahead of his time, he made an x-ray machine that supposedly could take clear images from 20-30 ft away from the source, a turbine system with no fan blades that was a very early jet engine design, this design today is used in water pumps for waste/flood water with high amounts of solids(like 50%+). Too bad his storage building burnt down, turning most of his notes and inventions to charcoal.
