Default riddles

this is a hard riddle im not going to give any clues ('cos im mean) if you know it please dont spoil it. so here it is......

An old woman who lives in a nursing home wanted to buy a radio.the radio was £30 pounds she couldn't afford it so she asks her friends if they'd all pitch in £10 each and all listen to it.they asked one of the nurses to go to the shop and buy the radio for them. the nurse agrees and goes to the shop with the money. when shes there she finds there is a sale on and the radio is only £25. she buy the radio and on the way back she notices shes not given anything for getting the radio. so she keeps the £5 but thinms thats too mean so she keeps £2. when she is back she gives the three old women back a £1 each so they are really paying £9 each. three 9 are 27 add the two from the nurse so thats £29 wheres the lost £1.

try figuring that out
when I get some more riddles i'll post them on

Its a good question... shame the answer isnt better

Here's my favourite puzzle, also happens to be just about the only one I bother to remember.

There is a lightbulb in a locked concrete room. Your outside with 3 light switches, 1 of which operates the bulb. You can fiddle with the switches as much as you want to but once you open the door you can no longer touch any of the switches.
There is no way to see inside the room or otherwise tell if the light is on until you open the door... after which of course you have no chance to flip any of the switches.
So how do you do it so that you have a 100% chance of knowing which switch operates the light?

dont post the answer if you can work it out... if you've got the answer you'll know its right but PM me if you want to check or if you really must know the answer

turn on 1 switch for a while, then turn on the 2nd switch. Go into the room. If the bulb is hot it was switch 1, if it is on its switch 2, if neither its switch 3

Who says there's a missing $1? (I'm using dollars because I don't know pounds or euros)
She had $30 to start.
She paid $25 for the Radio. She now has $5.
She keeps $2, she now has $3.
She gives $1 to each of the 3 ladies. She now has $0.
Ergo, no missing $1 anywhere.

I don't like riddles that try to trick you due to poor wording. I liked the Lightbulb one, had to use some critical thinking on that one.

Pondering...
