Seconded!

Though it's only a technicality, we wouldn't have known if he hadn't been typing it.

On the other hand, there is a precedent; during the war, when many things were rationed (but not typewriter ribbons) there were frequent (secret) paper-based games in the Ministry of War. Trelton's Dilemma (1943, published 1993 after the Government invoked the 50-year Rule) deals with it, when Trelton mis-spelled the destination as "Mannigton Crussint" (he was dictating at the time).

But whether something done in 1943, so before the 1962 Compendium, but not published until after 1962, is actually covered by Hodgekiss's Maxim, which has come into play after the 4th-turn axial shift, even with Wizzwang's jiggery-pokerey with Piccadilly Circus... is anyone's guess.

Not that it matters, because after quickly looking at the entire thread, I think we all have to agree that Wizzwang won that one anyway, beating off a strong showing from Svartmetal.

Maybe we should invoke the 50-year Rule, and just carry on as if nothing happened until 2059 (and I don't mean one minute to nine!)?

Doesn't matter Dafistofmork.

Unlike 40k, with its incomprehensible rules, Mornington Crescent is pretty easy to pick up in play. Give it a go, just serve, and we'll play of whatever you give us.

Guys, we'll play an open hand, if that's all right, using the 1981 Metropolitan Condensed ruleset if that's all right with you all. If anyone has the 4th Edition of Crossthorne's, that should be OK too, as long as we don't try to luff while moving backwards of course!

Tube map. That's the classic thing to play with. But you can play on any transport system in the world.

Pick a tube station (not Mornington Crescent, otherwise it'll be a very short game) and we'll take it from there.

If you don't have a tubemap, this one should do... (*think* I'm OK with copyright, but you should really have your own, preferably laminated, so you can make annotations and move pieces on it... bear in mind we're using the 1981 version and this one is 2007, so you might find that the Docklands Railway is ruled out for instance, dur to not having built yet).

Oh damn he's gone.

Errm, shall I serve then?

Right; this can either be counted as my lead, or, should a Steward's Inquiry rule that Wizzwang was out of bounds, this is still a perfectly legal move from Hyde Park Corner... bearing in mind that we're now either using the 1924 (abridged) rules and the 1962 Compendium, in which case, Squeek is I think still spooned, Svartmetal is attacking strongly while he's playing North, and Wizzwang is currently outbidding everyone; or, all bets are off, and we've started again with either the 1981 Metropolitan or Crossthorne's 4th Edition, intermitently on the 2007 map; in which case we may have to say reverse luffing is allowed on the Docklands Light Railway.

Clear?

Right; after Hyde Park Corner, or as a new serve, I'll play Lancaster Gate.

Well, in that case, it has to be a textbook move to Moor Park, doesn't it?

Wow! Great move! I don't think anyone saw that coming!

And legal under all three rulesets, that's fantastic. I take my hat off! (Of course, I'm not really wearing a hat, in accordance with the 1898 Bye-Laws!)

I'm obviously not going to say Harrow-on-the-Hill due to the elevation restrictions enforced in the 1962 Compendium (though honestly i'd prefer the more liberal Almanac of 1987, but there we go)

So i'll go with.. Baker Street.
