Well, the Mara Jade piece may or may not survive. They've already said the expanded universe is probably gone.

I would expect a very different family tree, though likely still with Han and Leia's kids.

The speaker was again almost certainly Luke because not only us it repeating his earlier speech but, it's timed conspicuously. When the speaker says "I have it. " It shows a robed figure placing a bionic right hand on R2-D2.

Heavily implying Luke.

I think I stated this before but they might decide to use existing EU characters but put a different spin on the story.

Just for reference The weapons the Enterprise used in star trek 2009 are similar to what the original enterprise used in balance of terror.

However no matter what happens it has to be better than the republic dissolving into an alliance and another skywalker falling to the dark side.

I completely missed the Mara Jade story arc. Playing X-Wing has made me want to re-read the Rogue Squadron books for sure, if I pick up some steam on that reading kick the part of me that needs to know more might get me into it.

EU = Expanded Universe, right @Reaper45 ?

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.

SPOILERZ:

He ends up training the Solo kids as Jedi, so it would make sense if he was talking to them. Never followed the Mara Jade thing too closely, no clue what their children were like.
That's no longer canon.

You don't need to marry a force wielder for the force to be passed on, afaik Padme wasn't especially sensitive to the force and she gave birth Leia and Luke.

Yeah, but their daddy was also the most powerful force wielder, ever? And the implication had always been that's it's hereditary. Though heredity was always pretty loose in the original 3 movies, it want clear if that was required or just increased your chances.

Most of the EU material is fairly spread out on it, it's hereditary but it also can happen randomly as well. The only thing that is confirmed is that Han Shot First.

And Han should be proud of shooting first.

Well..... that's where it gets a bit awkward, actually. Lets just say that there was more than one reason why paternity testing wasn't done on the twins.
