I forgot to mention garden of the gods its in Colorado springs, co(I live here).... its beautiful and awe inspiring. There's so many places in Colorado you have to see.. to many to list if your interested pm me...
Hey man, as mentioned in the PM I sent I am now back into the groove of research and planning, and I'll pop you a message as soon as I hit the "Colorado" stage of it in a few days time. Canoeing is a dry sport for me (not a huge rapids fan, prefer tranquil waters) so it isn't necessarily a write off, but like you say, altitude is the trick!

Sounds interesting, I'll check out the weather and have a look!

I'll certainly investigate it!

However, if you're interested in hiking and national parks and such in southern California I think I can help you out. I'm a wildlife biologist and know a few cool spots to visit.

If the couch situation at my place doesn't work out, perhaps we could spend a day or two camping. I could definitely show you some cool stuff over a weekend camping trip. Maybe even murder you, too! Who knows?

It all depends on when you're passing through CA. If after Feb 15 I'll be working (hopefully).
Hey man, thanks very very much for the offer! I'd love to chat with you about your work, which sounds amazing, and be shown around by someone who knows what they're doing. My flight back is from Phoenix and departs on the 18th Feb so I'll be well out of CA by that point! Unless of course I find I'm really enjoying myself and can just get a Greyhound Express a few days before.

That was one of the things on my list, I need to see whether it's worth the cost and time involved in coming out! Certainly it's one of the top spots nearby, but it's kinda in the wrong direction for me to be travelling in, but I have all the time in the world so who knows?

There is the grand canyon to see in Arizona.
I'm looking at the Grand Canyon at the moment, and Sedona and Flagstaff before then, as well as the Tonto National Forest and so on! I've thought about dipping across the border, but I know almost nothing about Mexico - what's the safety there like?

Hello again! I fly out tomorrow, and arrive in Phoenix on the 27th. The first leg of my journey looks something like this:

Phoenix: 27th-30th
Sedona: 30th-2nd
Flagstaff: 3rd-5th
Grand Canyon: 6th-8th
Williams: 9th-11th
Las Vegas: 12th-16th

And then who knows? Depends on weather, mainly. Will probably then start heading over towards LA if it's cold, or further north into Utah/Colorado if it's warm (relatively speaking).

Bon voyage!

Be safe. The weather in the states has been erratic lately.

And deserts in the winter can be cold and windy as well as surprisingly rainy.

Keep us posted!

Glad to hear you got there safe and sound and haven't been kidnapped raped and decapitated by the native truckers yet because you took a likin' to his sister-wife and sister-daughter..

Sethis made it to my place yesterday. Super nice guy so if you get a chance to meet him do it. I think he is having fun but he did tell me about his encounter with a large black man in a leopard print speedo holding his snake at Venice beach. He didn't explain it more than that and I didn't ask either .
