Putin is a shit-head scum bag who should be hanging on a lamp post. And yes, if it turns out he and his current "unsinkable" minister of Defense guilty of sending the conscripts to do the man's job he will be there.

You didn't read the fine print: it's turned off for the civilian use in USA.

From: http://www.gps.gov/systems/gps/modernization/sa/faq/

I heard that SA will be left on in certain parts of the world. Is it still on in my country?

No. You have been misinformed. Selective Availability was a global degradation of the GPS service. It could not be applied on a regional basis. By turning it off, the President immediately improved GPS accuracy for the entire world. The United States has no intention of reactivating SA ever again.
Users in the U.S. and the rest of the world should now be experiencing the same basic GPS accuracy of 10-20 meters or better.

Will SA ever be turned back on?

The United States has no intent to ever use SA again. To ensure that potential adversaries do not use GPS, the military is dedicated to the development and deployment of regional denial capabilities in lieu of global degradation.

So in theory, we could be over there with jammers....

Or the rebels could be doing it....

Or the Russians shot down that plane....

Or tin foil is a great stock to invest in if we continue to get these fine thoughts on the matter....

So far the last one has the best chance of being verified.

Eh, I remember talking about this a few years ago while I was still inside. Some lad came up with a quote which mentioned that the majority of the 4 Russian airborne divisions were Professional. It was one of those dickswinging things you all did in the messes "who'd win between a Royal and Megatron, etc". Nearest I can come up to is a deadlinked source from this page here;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Airborne_Troops

(Crtl+F for conscript), but I can't honestly spend more time over looking for sources to say either way. They're professional soldiers. And as such, why it didn't decontaminate prior to going in the field is a bit ridiculous.

You don't need a near by jammer to degrade the signal of the GPS when it can be safely and securely done from the Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.

And I am pretty sure the Russians didn't use the GPS knowing it's affected around that area. They just probably couldn't do the navigation at night using map and compass.

Those russian paratrooper who got captured i bet have been told to say this "getting lost" story beforehand incase they were captured. Not only country in world who does that. Also map navigating is one of first lessons you do in military, even more with paratroopers.

There have been several reports on few channels saying "unidentified green men" appreaded in local village close to border and speak with foreign accent. Also reports that tanks have been crossing border this tuesday with military intel of few countries backing this up.

Dunno what russians main goal is here, could be just showing off but basically from reading all stories from bothsides i believe ukrainian stories alot more. Those separatists dont just suddenly get tanks from somewhere without money and without crew who know how to operate them.

Did you even watch the videos and read the articles? How come among the 10 Russian paras there is only one (!) "contractor" and the rest are all conscripts?

I'll tell you a secret: even the special purpose 45th airborne regiment which houses SpetsNaz GRU personal still has conscripts because they are cheaper than the professional "contractors".

How about the ruskies made a genuine mistake, it is not beyond anyone to make one, regardless of what unit you are in, napoleon, rommel, wellington, all regarded as brilliant commanders all made mistakes, for fuck sake on more than one occassion british army patrols got escorted back to the northern irish border by the irish defence forces after getting navigationally embarrassed, and that is a small place to get lost, though I'm sure some of those may not have been legit. Also all the media we are getting is pro ukrainian, I work with a couple of russians and they are laughing at what I say is on the news, as far as they are concerned this will drag on a long time yet!

From your logic I bet they also planned to be captured. That's why they've rolled right to the Ukrainian check point once they crossed the border.

I am intrigued by the "foreign accent". You do know the Russian language is spoken as a "home language" in the Eastern Ukraine, don't you? So who could that be? Maybe Mexicans?

Do you have conscripts in Finland? Do they get murdered after they complete their military service or they integrate back into the society? The armour rebels have came from the military units and the Ukrainian army itself that was abandoned or captured by the rebels. Read the stories from Syria or Iraq, for God'a sake, or even this fucking thread where it was discussed already.

Looks like we can wait a few days/weeks and have the whole thing cleared up in no time.
