Default Harley Davidson to start making 500 and 750 cc motorcycles

So this news is about a month or so old however

HD has announced that like BMW and their adventure bikes they will start making a couple of smaller CC bikes for smaller or beginning riders. HD has seen that there is quite a market both in States and abroad for smaller CC bikes than they currently make which is no surprise because I seem to remember reading that their current smallest bike (the 883 iron) is their top seller and has been for a while. Anyway to prove that smaller doesn't necessairly mean shit looking here is the 500:

Now obviously it's down to personal taste but I really dig this look. They have obviously styled it off the 883 Iron, Nightsters and of course the head light shrouds that Sons of Anarchy has made iconic and I think it works! Sure some of the older Harley riders are going to hate them and by extention you for riding one however I couldn't give a fuck frankily. I'd rather ride this and think it looks better than being some tassled leather chap wearing tard riding this:

These bikes are being released next year but it may be a delay getting to various places. I know for me in NZ it will be midway through 2015 before they reach me (although there is some debate going on as to if the 750 will be here or just the 500) and by that time I'll have my full license and therefore am not restricted to a sub 660cc bike. That said due to the cost of Harley's and the cost of higher CC bikes I could still be very tempted by this.

Rather liking the look of that but definitely want to get a couple other views. Otherwise it looks like I'll probably finally give in and get a bike and shut my dad up about it.

At the moment there aren't that many images around however:

About the only thing I would do straight off the bat is ditch the rubber fork covers. Other than that I would see how it rides first.

Do it D, join the two wheeled goodness!

Slick and easy, but that front suspension is making me quiver a bit. Would have to ride one before I could tell whether it can handle the new speeds it will hit. Still.....BRING ON THE POWER!!!!!!

It's a nice bike, nicer to hear that HD is trying to give beginner riders a chance to come in with a HD from the get go.

That is really quite a tasty piece of kit.

I agree with removing those rubber covers though as that looks utter shite!

I do have to wonder why they are there since I've never seen a HD with them on before and they are only really ever on dirt bikes otherwise. Even most Dual Sports don't have them.

Either that or it was a last minute and cheap way of adding black to the forks, possibly as a balancing act to keep the amount of chrome on the front and back the same.
