Default Pastor Shot Dead mid-Ceremony

http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/28/us/lou...html?hpt=hp_t2

Quote:
(CNN) -- Bond is set at $1 million for a Louisiana man accused of shooting and killing a church pastor as he preached in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Friday night.
Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies arrested 53-year-old Woodrow Karey and charged him with second-degree murder, after he called 911 and told the dispatcher what he had done, sheriff's spokesperson Kim Myers said.

Witnesses told police that Karey walked into the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center around 8:20 p.m. CT and shot Pastor Ronald Harris twice -- the first time as he entered the church and then again at close range after Harris had fallen to the floor, Myers said.

Karey fled the scene on foot but later called the sheriff's office and surrendered without incident, Myers said.

During his arrest, Karey directed the deputies to two guns he had discarded in a wooded area. One of the firearms was a shotgun and the other was a pistol, police said. Police have not said which weapon was used to kill the pastor.

Karey has no known criminal history and it's not known what relationship he had to the pastor. The motive for the killing also is unknown, police said.
So in the suggestion of my fellow Heretic Rems, I found this bit of news floating out in the internet. It seems that even the Christians are not safe from the vices of this world. Random guy with little history goes and kills his pastor.....tragic. Still begs the question; possible sectarian violence; or simple mental health issues?

Thoughts, comments.

Actually the article doesn't say or necessarily imply that the murderer was a part of the dead pastor's congregation.

Sounds much more like personal conflict or mental illness than "sectarian violence." Those who commit sectarian violence typically don't call the cops on themselves. They want to remain free to keep sowing terror.

a guy with mental health issues maybe with a gun...maybe he had differing religious ideas or maybe he was just a nut with a gun, either way another bloody footnote in the worlds murder rate.

The title of the thread made this sound more interesting that it was "Pastor shoot Dead mid-Ceremony"

Thats what happened according to the article. I will try and find another article relating to the incident; but my understanding is the guy was giving mass and the dude shot him at the Tabernacle during the ceremony.

The funny bit EH is that Pastor Shoot has a very different connotation to Pastor Shot.

Even the christians? You make it sound like prior to this they had some kind of protection, perhaps of the divine sort?

Nut with gun shoots public figure during gathering... Probably wants attention.

Yeah I noticed the "even part" is just like to point out the people shot in Kenya were mostly Christian as well as the villages of men women and children being executed in Syria by rebels for refusing to convert to Islam. By beheading. With bread knives.

No one is safe. If you believe something there is a dickhead somewhere that thinks you deserve to die for it.

Islam has dickheads (apparently more than every one else) but so does Christianity and all other belief systems. Even Buddhists as demonstrated a few months ago.
