Default History Returns From the Depths: German Bomber Recovered

World War II German bomber raised from sea - CNN.com

History comes back to life as a German Bomber shoot down during the Battle of Britain is raised from the depths of the sea to be eventually put on display. Always interesting to see Europe recover the past

They're not actually planning on restoring it, just preserving what's left and then putting it on display.

Not so sure

Once the plane is ashore, it will be soaked in a citric acid solution to stop corrosion, the first step in a restoration process expected to take two years.

Nah, saw an interview on local news, all this is happening just a few miles away from where I live, and they said that they had no plans to restore the aircraft, just preserve it. They said there was not enough of the plane left for a restoration job although they are going to build a replica of the plane to be displayed in the same museum.

That was from the guy in charge of the project rather than a reporter who wasn't listening properly.

Fair enough, but still it is cool, to see a piece of history there. I feel like Dirk Pitt in the NUMA file books by Clive Cussler. Always wanted to have that adventure, something less than bullets whipping past my head.

Hey look at that it is; and fuck me I can't even imagine what that one reporter was thinking when saying it would be restored.

While people lifting a plane out of the sea is interesting I find THIS more of a concern.
