Well, my inner demons surfaced and dragged me back up onto the horse.

Thank you for the words fellas, time to move on.

Just the head? Not too hard. Get a hard drive with working head, take it apart and put tue heads on the other hard drive.

Lol. Its actually pretty easy with the right tools. Unfortunately most places have idiots working there and I would not trust a single a++ certified guy to do it as its more of a hacker thing.

The best thing is to call around and see who does hard disk recovery / head repair, or if they can do a transfer, just make sure they know its a mechanical failure not data corruption.

Good luck.

It pretty much needs to be the same hard drive. You should check newark or element14 to see if they have any components. Be warhammer of ebay as they may not be the right ones. It is definatly worth doing the research. Once you figure out time and costs you can decide what is the best way to go about it.

I mainly suggest getting a hd as you have to take it apart and that willbgelp you figure out how to replace the heads. Check you tube for tutorials.

Cheers.

Fell down what can only be described as a half size manhole on Saturday night because it was pitch black and some clever cunt had decided to move the capstone.
