Default Just pull in to the space already!

As it is every morning and afternoon during the lunch hours I have people in my parking garage at work who feel the extreme need to back their vehicle into a parking space and hold up an entire line of coworkers from parking because they think they're some parking space god.

I don't get it, I genuinely don't.

Why the hell not just pull into the space, park, and then get out?

The aisle for parking is only big enough for one and a half vehicles as it is and the people who have to back in end up taking 5 or more minutes to maneuver into the space. I have a friend who does the same thing and I've asked, "why?" His response was that he can only back into a space because its easier than pulling in and its easier than backing out of it at the end of the day. That, IMHO, is a crap answer.

Others typically are arriving to park, get out, and get inside to start the work day. But, thanks to the Dick who had to manuever their oversized SUV that's too big for backing into a space they now have to take a reprimand.

I don't know about you and your work's parking area, but, this is something I had to finally say something about, even if its only on here.

Maybe the dude in question feels the same about people reversing out of a space at home time because it slows him down because hes already facing the right direction

I'm not so 'up' about leaving, but, if that's how they think and then have to wait a moment or two, maybe three, then turn about is fair play. Besides, I'm not going on about one, but, several individuals.

In most of our industrial sites and operational facilities, it is a H&S requirement to reverse park. This is to allow a faster egress in case of emergencies where mass vehicular evacuations may occur.

Don't leave us engineers with too much free time on our hands...
we WILL tinker around and build something!!!

I get that. Plus, I'm sure your parking area is, I hope, designed with that particular function in mind with enough room for drivers to accomplish that type of parking. Doesn't sound like your employer is expecting their employees to do that in a confined, multi tier garage.

Fair point but individuals who've been through that may simply be doing it out of habit with realising it any more... I do! Sort of what the Safety Boys wanted to drill into our heads!

I could completely understand that if it weren't for the fact we are talking about employees who have worked for a Credit Union for 10+ years at this point. I know this because some of them have the 10+ year employee parking.

Last time I checked accidents in parking lots are 50/50 fault doing anything to lower the chances of an accident are worth it.

I do the same thing and knowing that it bugs you means that I am going to take twice as long from now on.

This is so dumb.

Unfortunately Canada got rid of the penny and now my two cents rounds down to zero, so...take it for what you will.
