So good would just be the status quo, then, which is perfectly in line with the question "Why do gods allow evil?"

So that we develop.

Why would we strive to be "good" if all we could ever hope for is status quo?
Why would we develop, think, research, change if there was no outcome but the same-o.

The first of those isn't necessary for the second. "Good" people don't always develop and research. And if everyone was good the best you can hope to be is better- which leads to a positive feedback loop of good people trying to be better people. I think a few people in this thread seem to believe in a binary good/evil, whereas I see it as more like a sliding scale of "goodness to evilness" with the question of if evil didn't exist simply removing one half. There'd still certainly be better people than other people.

But if all there was was "good" then that would be the case.

You cannot be "better" because there is no "worse"

There's certainly levels of good and bad. It isn't a binary determiner. There are good people who are better than other (still good) people. What you'd get in this is a scale of the least good person to the best good person and everyone in between. If there was no bad people we might move the scale on a subjective level, but comparable to now we'd have no one that could be considered "bad".

But if you have levels of good and bad then you must by definition have evil.

Evil simply being the extreme bad.

its an excuse to be mean to people, "oh look you had a wank, here comes the lightning bolt!!!". Anyway god gets a bad rap, as god never tells us anything just his p.r people and they are shit at p.r, he gets the blame for their crazy divo entourage demands, and in my opinion he aint even there, just like the A Team blamed for lunacy he didn't even commit

Oh look

it's another Christian who is allergic to logic that a 7 year old can work out (you wana know how I know this? I was that 7 year old who asked this question and I'm still waiting on a answer that actually makes sense).

You want to start a faith based circlejerk thread go ahead. Don't be surprised if it gets derailed by logic. You are more than welcome to try and derail this one but given your posting history about religion Satan (should he exist) has more of a chance of being let back through the pearly gates.
