Eh Pretty sure you can go in for 2-3 yrs but then there is so many other options eg: Officers school (like Hogwarts from all reports) or do a university stint through army funding then play soldier for a few years.

I was just in the Reserve. Its kinda like working at McDonalds, turn up once a week and a weekend or so a month. You can discharge yourself when you want to.

B coy 5/6 RvR ... (hmm the Aussie military seems to lack fancy names).

I was Com/Nav/Pen Flightline avionics Tech on F-15s & F-111s from '92 to '00 down with the Test Wing side of things at Eglin AFB in Florida.

The tech school for that had me at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO for eight months.

I'm officially a "Disabled Veteran".

I'm almost 100% certain that piloting requires a college degree and an officer's commision, but things may have changed since I've been out.

'At two minutes to eleven, opposite the South African Brigade, at the eastern-most point reached by the British armies, a German machine-gunner, after firing off a belt without pause, was seen to stand up beside his weapon, take off his helmet, bow, and then slowly walk to the rear.' -John Buchan

I went in the Navy at 17, was a Quartermaster. Got out as a QM3.

Went in the Army at 26. Infantry, airborne, ranger contract...all that crap. Ended up breaking my leg so I ended up transitioning to Mechanized Infantry (11M). At least I got my jump wings. Went to the 4th ID and spent a lot of time going to NTC. PCS's to Germany and the 1st ID. Spent a couple years deploying back and forth to the Balkans (Bosnia, Macedonia and Kosovo) which sucked. I went to PLDC, got my E-5 and got out.

I did three years with 7 (UK) Armd Brigade and three years with 12 (UK) Mech Brigade, all the time as a armoured vehicle mechanic. Did the first tour of Iraq (this time around) and a tour of Afghanistan. Done my time, got the fuck out. Don't regret it for a minute though.

Stick a V8 in it!

USMC, 2nd Radio Battalion. Formerly. I'm out now.

*sigh* I have to point out that despite what you see in games, lasrifles win wars. Just because lasrifles suck at killing superhuman killing machines in power armor does not mean that they are bad weapons. You are shooting them at the wrong targets. The most common enemy the Imperium faces is lightly armored humans armed with lasguns or autoguns, NOT SPACE MARINES.

Speed and Power! When were you in the Panther Battalion? I did my time on the hill from 2000-2005.

To keep with the thread, currently am a U.S. Army Tank Master Gunner Instructor at Fort Knox.
