As I write this another tribute to him has just ended. Never knew much about the man (for the reasons Unforgiven outlined above), but I was saddened by the news. And I was reminded of this XKCD comic: "65 Years"

Morbid, I know, but it really makes one think.

"Oh, you can have as much violence as you want, but no swearing and absolutely no sex." --Bruce Campbell

No offence to the guy, and its obvioously sad he is dead, but personally I don't think America landed on the moon.

The 'footage' is a joke, and they have never been back in over 30 years.

'One small step'was scripted by NASA because the whole thing was a hollywood fiction.

Of course they landed, with a powerful enough telescope (observatory type) you would be able to see the landing site, and the Russians who landed probes on the moon would have had a snoop and if it was faked they would have blew the story wide open so they could 1 up America in the cold war, and it would be too big a secret to keep as too many people would know!

R.I.P to Neil Armstrong, a real life hero and now an immortal legend!

XKCD has an interesting response to that:

I remember an archeologist talking about WW1 and how, as the last of the veterans who were there pass away, the war changes from memory to history. How many astronaughts are left that walked on the Moon; one of the, if not the greatest achievements of the 20th century and humanity in general. Are we going to get back to the moon before that too passes into history?

This list is only for the men who set foot on the moon, and does not include the men who orbited the moon in the command module as the landers went to the surface.

Basically, 1/4 of the men who walked on the moon have passed. 4 out of 12.

BTW it is Astronaut which means Star Sailor not Astronaught which would be Star Nothing.

Hehehe, I had to correct the spelling when I quoted him, I couldn't let that typo slip past.
