I'd lean the green a tad towards a bluer shade myself. As already stated by others, and I have to agree, a slightly bluer green would give you a really nice contrast with the fiery orange and yellow on the flames and lava bases. I don't think people would confuse them with Legion of the Damned however, as I've seen tons of salamander stuff have black panels with flames on them. The trick is to get a bluer shade of green without it looking turquoise, but if you darkened it a tad or even started with a dark, cool green base (I'm thinking like a dark spruce green instead of DA green as a base) you could build it up and still keep the bluer shadows to give more contrast. I'd also like to see some scorch marks on the feet, since they're walking on lava, but you probably already thought of that, since this is just a test piece.
Maybe try making a green with a touch of blue in it glaze? That might give you the same sort of effect, but I love glazes, you might not.
This is the sort of green I was thinking of.

I like the direction that it is going. The flames are nice but I don't think I would do to many of people might think that they are green Legion of the Damned.
I think the basecoat green is good but I'm not sure about the scorpion green part since it goes towards yellow. I think instead of scorpion green if you went with some snot green and white mixed in it might be interesting kind of like on the salamanders cover.
This would give you more highlight or light source options to go more towards yellow or orangish light coming from the lava base.

On the green I think that you could get away with a darker shade in the recesses, treat the green like"green fire" if you catch my drift. Did you ever drop that stuff into a bunsen burner at school to get a green flash.......copper something I think?[/QUOTE]
its copper sulfate, Im pretty sure at least (%98)

|Syph||I'm taking into account this is a test piece - it's not that the green isn't dark enough, I'd like to see a more dramatic difference between shadows and highlights. This might just be because it's a test piece, but I think it'd help to see darker colours in the recesses - even if it's a watered down Badab or green (Thraka?) wash.|

|The Wraithlord||Fist, after having seen the model in person it is definitely the pics that are making folks say it isn't dark enough. In person this model is SUBSTANTIALLY darker than the pics show.|
